Responsibilities & Context:
Hazard Inspection: Check the work area before, during, and after a shift for flammable liquids, vapors, or debris.
Permit Enforcement: Ensure all conditions listed on the active Hot Work Permit are strictly followed.
Safety Enforcement: Ensure fire blankets are in place and no flammable materials are within ~ 35 feet of the work zone.
Equipment Readiness: Know the exact locations of fire extinguishers, alarms, and hoses.
Emergency Response: If a fire occurs, try to put it out only if it is small and safe to do so. Otherwise, activate the alarm and call local emergency services immediately.
Post-Work Monitoring: Remain at the job site for 30 to 60 minutes after hot work finishes to ensure no smoldering embers remain.
Stop Work Authority: Have the authority to stop any hazardous work.
