Job Context:
∎ Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO), a non-profit national level development organization of Bangladesh. ESDO started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. ESDO is going to implement a project on Local Nutrition Governance named Joint Action for Nutrition Outcome (JANO) is funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation. JANO project is a consortium initiative with the engagement of CARE Bangladesh, Plan International Bangladesh and ESDO. The Field Officer is the main force to implement JANO project activities in field level. JANO will build the capacity of School Management Committee (SMC), Union Development Coordination Committees, Upazila Nutrition Coordination Committees, and District Nutrition Coordination Committees, enabling better implementation of nutrition action plans, where duty bearers are held accountable to citizens for commitments and services. The project will focus on empowering School Management Committee (SMC), Community Support Groups, build capacities of SMCs, UDCCs, UNCCs and DNCCs to be responsive to the needs of communities, and develop multi-sectoral nutrition action plans.
∎ The FO is responsible for facilitating the CSG/SMC in active engagement in support nutrition action plan and will mobilize Community Support Groups/ School Management Committee to actively meet on a monthly schedule, to discuss successes and challenges, and to make pragmatic nutrition action plans moving forward.
∎ The project Field Officer, working with GoB supervisors, teachers and staff, will continue supporting these groups to effectively conduct social mapping, and assist in the implementation of the nutrition action plan, through these participatory monthly meetings.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ (Community Level)
∎ The Field Officer is responsible to activate and coordinate and capacity building of Union Development Coordination Committee (UDCC);
∎ The FO will facilitate the community Support Groups and capacitate them in implement the NPAN;
∎ Assist in the activation and capacity building on Nutrition Coordination Committees and Union Development Coordination Committee;
∎ Assess and reform of Community support groups;
∎ Organize training and meetings with CSGs, UDCC and Community Clinic;
∎ Facilitate to implement the union level NPAN;
∎ Mobilize the CSGs in developing local level nutrition action plans;
∎ Assist to review the community to develop multi-sect oral annual nutrition action plan and smooth implementation of the activities with necessary support from UDCC, UNCCs etc.;
∎ Implement the program interventions in selected assigned areas;
∎ Implement the field level activities of the project in timely in assign areas with maintaining the quality;
∎ Strengthen complimentary role of the private sector and government extension systems in agriculture and livestock for nutrition focused productivity and income growth;
∎ Facilitate knowledge and skill building of relevant government and private extension workers in the areas of nutrition sensitive and climate smart agriculture;
∎ Facilitate Private Sector engagement to produce nutrition focused and climate-smart products;
∎ Assist to select the training participant from the community and assist to organize UP/village level training /workshop;
∎ Organize the field level learning session & facilitate accordingly;
∎ Participate actively in the training / workshop as the nomination;
∎ Assist to select the appropriate activities and keep close follow-up to the timely & properly implementation;
∎ Ensure the proper usage of the training material and other resources that has supplied by the organization as well as take proper care of it;
∎ Identify and networking and communication with UP level different service providers & establish linkage among community and service providers;
∎ Build up effective liaisons among the relevant institutions/ organizations/market players or business institutions and community peoples to get services available to the communities;
∎ (School Level)
∎ The Field Officer is responsible to activate, coordinate and capacity building of School Management Committee (SMC).
∎ The FO will support the teachers to use Gender Equity Movement in Schools (GEMS) manual developed by the National Curriculum and Text Book Board, aimed at educating 10-19 year old students to address gender norms that affect nutritional practice among students.
∎ To form student cabinet and council in each selected schools and form TfD Groups by the students of selected schools.
∎ To organize TfD Show in community (With nearby non-project schools) with key message on gender, health, nutrition and WASH.
∎ To organize debates, quizzes, annual sports, essay competitions and celebration days in the selected schools.
∎ Identify the married adolescents and link them with the services on reproductive health where available (CC, UH&FWC).
∎ The Field Officer will coordinate with the local government health and education standing committees and the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) to strengthen the WASH facilities in Schools.
∎ Facilitate to the Head Teachers to establish School Garden in their school premises and coordinate with the Agriculture Extension Officers how to develop these school gardens using climate smart-agriculture extension techniques.
∎ Coordinate with the Head Teachers to establish Adolescent Corner in their School.
∎ Organize the field level learning session & facilitate accordingly and participate actively in the training / workshop as the nomination.
∎ Assist to select the appropriate activities and keep close follow-up to the timely & properly implementation.
∎ Assist to the School Volunteers and monitoring their activities and supervise them.
∎ Ensure the proper usage of the training material and other resources that has supplied by the organization as well as take proper care of it.
∎ Effective networking with the different service providers & facilitate to identify the local resources and its utilization.
∎ Build up effective liaisons among the relevant institutions to get services available to the communities.
∎ (Over all)
∎ Assist to identify the local resources and facilitate the process for access to resources / services;
∎ Facilitate to ensuring service provision by the multi sectoral service provider, which mentioned in NPAN;
∎ Data collection & reporting in all requirements;
∎ Conduct different survey as per project requirement;
∎ Collect field level different information and M&E data within scheduled date;
∎ Using ICT based software and maintain the data process smoothly by using smart phone;
∎ Collect different problems / learning from the community and sharing in the team for solution & learning and accordingly disseminate the learning in community level that has been collected from the office;
∎ Prepare the monthly progress report and other requirement as per scheduled date.
∎ Any others project relevant task given by project.
∎ Report to: Upazila Manager, JANO Project
∎ Coordination/contact with: Maintains close contact with Technical Officer, MIS officer, Volunteers and Union Parishad, School. S/he will supervise volunteers and follow-up their activities.
∎ Working place: The position based at union level under JANO Project working areas with most of the time in the field visit purpose.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 27 to 45 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Minimum 8-10 years of professional experience in field level activities in NGOs with 5 years’ experience governance and nutrition projects/programs.
∎ Strong knowledge and experience in facilitation skills.
∎ Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
∎ Well conversant with the multi-sectoral governance, nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive intervention, climate smart and nutrition value chain agriculture, and ICT based information portal.
∎ Have experience in understanding on Governance and social accountability tools.
∎ Experience of working with communities in participatory approaches.
∎ Good networking and liaison skills with local level government departments, nutrition and governance platforms and private sector in nutrition specific and sensitive service delivery.

Salary: Tk. 18000 - 20000 (Monthly)
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Festival Bonus: 2(Yearly) equivalent to 50% of monthly gross salary
