Experience:
Minimum BSc. (Hons.) in Environmental Sciences/Environment and Disaster Management/Forestry and Environment/ Geography and Environment/Environment and Natural Resources Management, from a UGC-approved university.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in working on Environmental management and/or RECP implementation.
• Tourism or cultural related experience preferred
• Relevant working experience with PKSF or any project funded by any multi-lateral development partners would be preferred.
• Experience in working in enterprise development related projects will be an added advantage
• Proven knowledge of environmental monitoring regarding use of resource, energy, water, waste-water, waste management, and air emission.
• Field-level experience on environmental management (IEE, EIA, ESMP, etc.) and RECP implementation.
• Experience of providing environment and resources management training, awareness building among mass people on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) issues.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good computer knowledge (MS office suite, typing both English and Bangla).
ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.
Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) is going to implement a sub-project titled “Promoting agro-ecological tourism in northern part of Bangladesh” as a part of the “Eco Friendly Tourism Developmentt.
This sub-project aims to To sustainably diversify the local economy and enhance community well-being in the northern part of Bangladesh by establishing and promoting agro-ecological tourism as a unique, environmentally responsible, and culturally enriching travel experience
The employee will initially be hired for a one-year term, with the possibility of extending the contract till 30 June 2028, based on satisfactory performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
The ‘Environment and RECP Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and will undertake the following duties and responsibilities, which are essential but not limited to:
• Assist the Project Manager in planning, monitoring, and supervising the implementation of project activities.
• Create awareness among the microenterprises about the environment, climate-resilient RECP, climate vulnerability, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
• Provide training on Environment, Climate Resilient RECP, and Climate vulnerability at the ME level.
• Facilitate MEs to implement RECP practices.
• Make regular field visits to monitor RECP practices including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Educate project staff about the environment, climate-resilient RECP, climate vulnerability, and OHS issues.
• Guide project staff to implement climate-resilient RECP and OHS practices.
• Prepare a sub-project-specific Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP).
• Facilitate formation of Environment Clubs, including arrangement of regular monthly meeting, celebration of national and international days, and youth engagement program.
• Maintain liaison and coordination with local authorities like DoE.
• Any other tasks, duties, or specific tasks assigned by the Project Manager and management of the ESDO .
