A duty doctor, also known as a Medical Officer (MO), is responsible for providing immediate medical care and attention to patients, primarily within a hospital setting. Their duties include diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, responding to emergencies, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and maintaining accurate patient records.

• Duty doctors assess patients, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and develop appropriate treatment plans with collaborating with consultants.
• They are the first point of contact for medical emergencies, providing immediate care to stabilize patients. 
• They prescribe medications, administer treatments, and perform minor surgical procedures when qualified. 
•  Duty doctors monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide ongoing care. 
• They maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records, documenting diagnoses, treatments, and progress. 
• Duty doctors may be responsible for overseeing the medical activities during their assigned shift. 
• They ensure the safe and effective use of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
