  • Essential Literacy and Valid Heavy Duty (Professional) Driving License. Good knowledge of country roads
  • Essential 5 years minimum of previous driving experience as truck or bus driver

  • Desirable in MSF or other NGOs

Responsibilities & Context:

No of Vancancy: [ 2 Female, 5 Male ]

  • Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a hand over if another uses the vehicle
  • Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
  • Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle
  • Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents
  • Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
  • Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.
  • Knowing how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver's position and any potential implications.
  • Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, check-points and roadblocks. Ensuring all passengers know and respect the security rules
  • Hanging ID card on neck while driving the vehicle
  • Wear proper closed shoes while driving; sandals are not permitted.
  • Always keeping the line manager/MMO updated about the condition of the road
  • Keeping aforesaid issues, i.e. mileage, fuel receipt, servicing, repair, accident and other updated/recorded in the log-book
  • Performing the vehicle daily check and weekly and to ensure all vehicle-related preparation prior to start journey
  • If necessary, helping the passengers to open the door
  • Briefing the passengers about the rules and regulations of the vehicle and methods and assisting them in train-ing/providing information
  • During the referral, the drivers should help the nurses and the patient coordinators to lift up or down the stretcher and if necessary, actively helping the patient while going in or out of the vehicle
  • Be familiar with the driver’s responsibilities, including communication points, maps, vehicle maintenance, and check-up schedules.
  • Ensuring that the vehicle remain in working condition in accordance with the guidelines and directives of the logbook
  • Ensuring that the internal and external parts of the vehicle are clean and ensure the engine and chassis are regularly
  • To ensure that the logbook, liability form, complete emergency medical kit, accessories jack, strap, rope and also to check the availability of the reserved items which have been fixed in the logbook. If any tool is found absent or flawed, the line manager must be informed immediately .
  • Saving the vehicle from risk/accident/steal as much as possible; ensuring safe parking of the vehicle, particularly at night or during holidays
  • While driving, a legal driving license must be kept. Besides, to have the necessary documents for managing the vehi-cle
  • Ensure all the passenger have the seat bealt is fasten.
  • Adjust driving style to comply with speed limits, considering road, vehicle, and weather conditions
  • Emphasizing safety issue, knowdering the nearest vehicle and speed, the MSF vehicle’s driver can speed up to 10-15 kilometer/per hour beyond the permitted speed limit and that can be done only for overtaking the other vehicle
  • As it is explained in the logbook, proper loading-unloading and maximum loading capacity must be ensured to avoid overloading
  • After every trip, the vehicle must be made disinfected
  • Only MSF driver or mission approved persons will be considered as befitted to drive the vehicle; otherwise, if this rule is violated, head of drivers will be notified about it
  • Before carrying personnel or goods in MSF vehicle, it must be verified whether it is approved by technical logistic manager/fleet supervisor
  • It must be ensured that arms holder/uniformed person and police member cannot make entry to MSF vehicle
  • The signature of non-MSF passengers must be ensured in the responsibility disclaimer form
  • It is to be ensured that all carried goods are properly preserved and protected in the back/ inner side of the vehicle
  • Except in some emergency situations, carrying passengers to be avoided on the back side of the vehicle. That may be a truck or the back of the open pickup as well. But in that case, permission of the concerned authority should be taken in this regard
  • While crossing closed road/non-permitted roads, customs, check point, the mission established security rules must be followed
  • Security related all incidents to be notified to the movement monitoring officer or head of drivers
  • As Smoking is absolutely prohibited in MSF vehicle in all conditions; in addition, while carrying inflammable items like gas cylinder, everybody must be cautious so that no one smoke in the nearby place. It must be ensured that all pas-sengers are fully complying this rule
  • To ensure safety and security of the vehicle, if he comes out of the base, he must try to remain close to it

Reporting

  • If any accident, damage or any technical fault takes place, the supervisor must be informed instantly
  • Security related incidents or any other important information, if it is seen on the road or being informed through radio, must be notified to the supervisor instantly and directly
  • Profesional drivers skils

Transport and Mechanics

  • Assist in using MSF’s standard vehicle tools and procedures under supervision, including completing logbook, work sheet, and performing daily and weekly vehicle checks.
  • Support basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as Service “A” and “B” routines and demonstrate a basic understand-ing of mechanical spare parts and their functions.
  • Help manage fuel storage responsibly, ensuring adherence to MSF’s refueling principles and safety rules under guid-ance.
  • Drive vehicles in accordance with MSF safety standards, applying sound knowledge of driving rules and regulations while being supervised.

Telecommunications

  • Support the use of MSF telecommunications tools under supervision, including mobile phones, establishing movement communications, and operating satellite phones.

Safety

  • Apply MSF safety principles and procedures under supervision, including implementing safety plans in case of acci-dents, using basic technical safety tools (e.g., vehicles, radios), and demonstrating good knowledge of contingency protocols, with guidance and oversight, to address challenges such as difficult road conditions, high-traffic areas, and appropriate behavior at checkpoints.


Job Other Benifits:

    • Permanent Contract. Salary according to level Three (3) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 45000). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax rule. 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy- Locally Recruited Staff.

    • There is no provisions for relocation. 2 Festival Bonuses after completion of one year of uninterrupted continuous service.
