Job Context:
∎ AquaData - a Work Package of the Resilient Aquatic Food Systems for Healthy People and Planet of One CGIAR Initiative. Over 3 billion people worldwide rely on aquatic food systems for income and nutrition. But among others, a lack of reliable data and information affects the social, economic and environmental sustainability of aquatic food systems in the face of climate change, pollution, overfishing and competing demand for water.
∎ AquaData aims to create a place where people can find data, stories and tools to use in their own contexts to make positive changes. This effort involves:
∎ Identifying and filling data gaps through partnerships and collaboration
∎ Deriving new data from emerging technologies and approaches turning data into knowledge to catalyze action in aquatic food systems.
∎ The objective of this work package is to collect what are the current data gaps from various stakeholders in Bangladesh and to conduct survey of various stakeholders for information in the area of Aquatic Food Systems using structured questionnaires following protocol and analysis.
∎ Location and Duration: The successful consultant will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh with some field visits on part-time basis. The selection of consultant will be based on the relevant qualification and experience and the most competitive proposal. The interviews are expected to be held in November 2023 and only shortlisted consultants will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful consultant should be available to commence the consultancy contract tentatively from 15 November 2023 till 21 December 2023.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The "Data GAP Analysis Specialist" Consultant will be responsible for following tasks:
∎ In collaboration with WorldFish staff, identify Bangladesh Aquatic Food System key stakeholders.
∎ Categorize stakeholders, area of information and develop activity plan and schedule for interview.
∎ Update Questionnaires in consultation with experts of WorldFish and "Aquaculture and Fisheries Specialist" Consultant.
∎ Organize consultation meeting beforehand with selected stakeholders to share the questionnaires used for the interview for clarity and necessary feedback.
∎ Execute 40 expert interviews following the developed questionnaire.
∎ Compile and collect information from interviewees.
∎ All activities should be reviewed and approved by supervisor, before starting expert interviews
∎ The "Data Gap Analysis Specialist" Consultant need to deliver the following deliverables:
∎ Sampling plan and interview protocols (for 40 stakeholders).
∎ Prepared Excel file with the output of expert interview responses based on template provided by WorldFish Staff (including all 40 expert interviews).
∎ Partial transcript of key responses based on template provided by WorldFish Staff (transcript of key message for each question from the expert interviews).
∎ Audio recordings of the interview including the confirmation of interviewee consent to use his responses for the study for each of the 40 expert interviews conducted.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 10 years' experience related to this activities.
∎ At least 5 publications in international journal.
∎ Strong verbal communication skills in both Bangla and English.
∎ Proven track record of consultancy with good reporting ability.
∎ A positive and can-do attitude towards tasks beyond the job description.
∎ Committed and motivated.
