Additional Requirements:

Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery, or Diploma in Midwifery.

Preferred Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. in Nursing) or Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing approved by BNMC.

Registration: Valid registration with the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).

Experience: At least 2–3 years of clinical experience in hospital settings (after internship or bedside practice). 



Responsibilities & Context:

The Clinical Instructor is responsible for facilitating nursing students’ learning in both the nursing skills laboratory and clinical practice areas. The position ensures students acquire essential nursing competencies through hands-on practice, guided demonstrations, and supervised students for patient care. The Clinical Instructor bridges theory and practice, enhances students’ clinical reasoning, and promotes ethical, safe, and evidence-based nursing care.

A. Responsibilities in the Nursing Skills Laboratory

  1. Prepare and organize the nursing skills lab for teaching and demonstrations.

  2. Plan and conduct practical sessions, demonstrations, and return demonstrations based on the BNMC-approved curriculum.

  3. Ensure all equipment, manikins, and materials are properly arranged, functional, and maintained.

  4. Supervise students during practice sessions and assess skill performance using competency checklists.

  5. Assist students in mastering basic and advanced nursing procedures before clinical placements.

  6. Maintain laboratory inventory, requisition supplies, and ensure infection control and safety measures.

  7. Prepare practical teaching aids, simulation-based learning materials, and evaluation tools.

  8. Conduct pre-clinical evaluations to ensure students are competent before entering clinical settings.

B. Responsibilities in Clinical Settings

  1. Plan, organize, and supervise students at clinical placements in hospitals, community health centers, and other healthcare facilities.

  2. Conduct clinical demonstrations and guide students in providing direct patient care.

  3. Ensure students follow nursing standards, ethical principles, and hospital protocols.

  4. Evaluate students’ clinical performance using structured observation and assessment tools.

  5. Conduct pre-clinical conferences (orientation and objectives) and post-clinical conferences (reflection and case discussion).

  6. Collaborate with ward in-charges, nursing supervisors, and hospital staff for effective clinical teaching.

  7. Monitor attendance, discipline, and professional behavior of students in clinical areas.

  8. Ensure the safety of patients and students during clinical practice.

C. Academic and Teaching Support

  1. Participate in curriculum implementation and lesson planning with academic faculty.

  2. Provide theoretical and practical correlation between classroom teaching and clinical application.

  3. Assist in the preparation of teaching-learning materials and evaluation tools.

  4. Support students in developing nursing care plans, case studies, and health teaching presentations.

  5. Encourage the use of evidence-based practice in clinical and laboratory learning.

D. Student Evaluation and Record Keeping

  1. Maintain records of student attendance, skill lab performance, and clinical evaluation.

  2. Conduct formative and summative evaluations of students’ clinical competencies.

  3. Provide constructive feedback to students to enhance learning outcomes.

  4. Submit progress reports and student assessment results to the Head of Department or Principal.

E. Professional Development and Research

  1. Engage in professional development programs, workshops, and continuing education activities.

  2. Participate in institutional research, data collection, or quality improvement initiatives.

  3. Promote ethical and evidence-based practice among students and colleagues.

F. Administrative and Institutional Responsibilities

  1. Maintain coordination between academic and clinical departments for smooth program functioning.

  2. Participate in departmental meetings, faculty discussions, and institutional committees.

  3. Assist in organizing skill competitions, seminars, workshops, and community health programs.

  4. Uphold institutional values, discipline, and ethical standards in all professional activities.
