Responsibilities & Context:
1. Breeding Bull Station Management: Plan, establish & operate the upcoming bull station following internationally accepted bull-station management, biosecurity, animal-welfare and semen-production practices. Supervise selection, procurement/entry, quarantine, housing, feeding, exercise, health monitoring and reproductive management of breeding bulls.
2. Bull Selection & Genetic Improvement: Develop scientifically sound bull-selection criteria using pedigree, phenotype, performance, breeding soundness, semen quality and, where available, genomic information. Assist in identifying candidate and elite bulls and developing breed-specific breeding objectives.
3. Elite Mother Herd Management: Establish and manage an elite nucleus/mother herd for production of genetically superior replacement females and future breeding bulls. Develop mating plans and selection strategies while minimizing inbreeding and undesirable genetic defects.
4. Semen Production & Quality Control: Supervise semen collection, evaluation, dilution/extension, processing, freezing, storage and quality-control procedures. Maintain appropriate standards for sperm concentration, motility, morphology, post-thaw quality, hygiene and traceability.
5. Reproductive Biotechnology: Coordinate reproductive programs including estrus detection, artificial insemination, synchronization, pregnancy diagnosis and reproductive-performance monitoring. Knowledge and practical exposure to embryo transfer, IVF/IVP, sex-sorted semen and genomic selection will be considered an important advantage.
6. Breeding Records & Genetic Database: Establish a comprehensive animal-identification and recording system covering pedigree, birth records, growth, reproduction, milk production, health, semen production and genetic information. Generate KPIs and periodic technical reports for management decision-making.
7. Dairy & Breeding Herd Management: Supervise day-to-day management of breeding females, heifers, calves and bulls, including housing, feeding, reproduction, health, welfare and production monitoring.
8. Nutrition, Fodder & Silage: Coordinate scientifically balanced feeding programs for breeding bulls and mother herds and work with the nutrition team on ration formulation, body-condition management, fodder planning and quality silage production.
9. Biosecurity & Herd Health: Develop and enforce SOPs for quarantine, vaccination.
