∎ EQMS - Bangladesh consist of 12 different departments of which GIS and Remote Sensing Department (GRD) is a major department working with geo-spatial solutions. EQMS has a separate division for GIS and RS application with a strong proficiency and broad experience in the application of GIS and RS technology in various sectors. The basic services include data capturing from field and satellite imagery, database management, data integration with analysis, desktop, and web-based map preparation etc. More precisely, this division provides services in satellite image processing, geo-referencing and map preparation, land use and land cover classification, crop classification, agricultural mask preparation, flood coverage and risk analysis, disaster monitoring, and damage assessment including erosion mapping etc. Also, provide analysis of spatial and temporal data derived from satellite images using different software such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Google Earth Pro, Web GIS, Geo-Server, ERDAS IMAGINE etc. Moreover, different types of surveying work such as topographic survey, cadastral survey, physical feature survey, bathymetry survey, route survey are essentially performed under this department for different development projects.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Gathering and acquiring geospatial data from various sources such as satellite imagery, aerial photographs, LiDAR data, GPS, and field surveys.
∎ Organizing, managing, and analyzing spatial data using GIS software and tools. This includes data processing, spatial modeling, spatial statistics, and generating maps, reports, and visualizations. Creating maps, charts, and other visual representations of geospatial data to communicate information effectively.
∎ Utilizing remote sensing techniques and tools to interpret and extract information from satellite or aerial imagery including image classification, change detection, vegetation analysis, land cover mapping, and other remote sensing applications.
∎ Designing and maintaining geospatial databases, including data storage, data integrity, data quality assurance, and data updates including database management systems (DBMS) and spatial data formats like shapefiles, geodatabases, or raster formats.
∎ Planning and managing GIS projects, including defining project requirements, setting goals, coordinating data collection, analysis, and mapping tasks, and ensuring timely project completion.
∎ Applying GIS and remote sensing techniques to solve spatial problems or address specific questions in various domains such as urban planning, environmental management, agriculture, transportation, disaster response, social etc.
∎ Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients to understand their spatial data needs, provide technical expertise, and deliver results. Effective communication skills are essential to present findings and provide recommendations.
∎ Ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and quality of geospatial data and analysis through rigorous quality control processes, data validation, and error correction techniques.
∎ Keeping up to date with advancements in GIS technology, remote sensing tools, and geospatial data sources.
∎ Preparation of meaningful maps with sufficient information, mapping elements in a nicely prepared layout with sensible innovation.
∎ Implement field visit plan, data collection and data preparation.
∎ Assist in report writing, data interpretation, mapping and concept designing.
∎ Attain Client meeting and effective communication to meet client's requirement.
∎ Support for Preparation of Expression of Interest (EOI) and Project Proposal (PP) for Local and International projects.
∎ Communication with International and local consultants/ experts and firms for project engagement and network development.
∎ Reporting immediately to Head of Dept. and project manager for effective project implementation.
∎ Any other responsibilities assigned by the organization.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 1-2 years Experiences in the related field for the "Assistant Consultant" position. Above 5-years relevant experience for the position of "Consultant".
∎ Should have excellent report writing and communication skills.
∎ Should have the ability to statistical data analysis and interpretation.
∎ Should have sound knowledge of Web GIS and Geo-Server.
∎ Should have sound knowledge on survey related works such as topographic survey, cadastral survey, physical feature survey, bathymetry survey etc.
∎ Should have knowledge about UAV technology, operating drones for conducting aerial surveys.
∎ Should have knowledge about specialized surveying equipment such as RTK, Auto Level, Eco Sounder, Total Stations, GPS receivers, laser scanners etc.
∎ Should have knowledge about processing the captured drone and other surveyed data using specialized software and tools including performing photogrammetry or LiDAR data processing to generate accurate point clouds, orthomosaics, digital surface models (DSMs), and other geospatial datasets.
∎ Should have sound knowledge in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other similar software for data processing and representation of survey data.
∎ Should be workable under pressure and responsibility.
∎ Should adhere to professional standards, honor commitments, and maintain confidentiality when required.
∎ Should meet deadlines and fulfill their responsibilities with consistency and maintain quality in works.
∎ Should be motivated to frequent field visits.
∎ Should be a good team player, pro-active and self-motivated.
∎ Should maintain a positive attitude, demonstrating respect for others, practicing good time management, dressing appropriately, and representing the organization in a professional manner.
Salary:
∎ Remuneration ranges from 420,000 to 750,000 per annum based on the best selected and deserved candidate(s) and evaluation through recruitment examination.
