Job Responsibilities:
∎ Oversee the annual revision of the technical design of the alternative livelihoods and agriculture interventions under the program and manage the operational delivery of field activities
∎ Build upon the program's alternative livelihoods interventions related to entrepreneurial literacy, technical skills training, and workforce development by:
∎ Developing and strengthening commercial linkages between alternative livelihood beneficiaries and private sector buyers, suppliers, and financial service providers. Document successful models for private sector engagement and workforce development.
∎ Engaging stakeholders from local communities and the public sector to facilitate continued investment in workforce development and sustain relationships between vulnerable communities and private sector employers.
∎ Support the design and delivery of interventions related to agricultural production and nutrition for food insecure producers by:
∎ Incentivizing production using climate smart practices and technologies.
∎ Strengthening linkages between food insecure producers and private sector buyers (processors, retailers, exporters) and input suppliers (fertilizer, seed, mechanization) in the market system.
∎ Facilitating market linkages between buyers and food insecure producers to align incentives for investment in production, aggregation, and trade
∎ Facilitating relationships between food insecure producers and informal/formal service providers to catalyze farmer-led investment in inputs (e.g. seeds, fertilizer), technologies, and infrastructure for market-oriented production
∎ Investing in the organizational capacity of farmer groups and community-based organizations to improve access to informal financial services through VSLAs and improved eligibility for financing/investment from formal financial institutions
∎ Supporting buyers to develop tools and infrastructure for the provision of technical training to smallholder farmers related to production, quality, post-harvest handling, and aggregation
∎ Engaging service providers from the local market system to offer specialized services and support to smallholder farmers to increase productivity, efficiency, food safety, and resilience
∎ Facilitate and strengthen relationships between key government partners and producers they support, including: Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Department of Fisheries (DoF), Department of Livestock Services (DLS), and Department of Youth Development (DYD)
∎ Participate in annual work plan, technical design revision and budget preparation with program partners and consortium prime;
∎ Ensure timely, high-quality implementation and in line with approved work plans and budgets
∎ Provide results-oriented management and overseeing country-based monitoring and evaluation/data collection related to project outputs and documenting population-level impact on income, stunting, and dietary diversity, including management of local consultants
∎ Contribute to reporting, monitoring, and providing technical guidance to sub-recipients
∎ Delivering technical input and thought leadership for quarterly and annual reports and work plans on established deadlines.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 5 years' experience working on livelihoods programming
∎ Working knowledge of agricultural production and market systems in Bangladesh
∎ Experience in mapping agricultural and/or alternative livelihoods market systems and supporting investments in value chain development
∎ Experience in developing public-private partnerships with key stakeholders
∎ Experience in facilitating market linkages between suppliers, buyers and financial institutions and food insecure vulnerable program participants
∎ Familiarity with USAID programming, policies, and regulations
∎ Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
∎ Competence with Microsoft Office Suite - particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
∎ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
∎ English verbal and written fluency required
