∎ Objective and Consultancy Summary:
∎ Currently, Water.org Bangladesh is directly supporting Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) through grants and technical assistance to provide affordable financing for water and sanitation solutions. We call this program "WaterCredit" since our work enables water and sanitation loans.
∎ The consultant will design information, education and communication (IEC) / behavioral change communication (BCC) materials for Water.org`s current and potential partners, which are MFIs and banks. The consultant will undertake a quick assessment prior to designing these materials. Full detailed are mentioned in the next section.
∎ The IEC/BCC Material Development Specialist will be based at the Bangladesh Country Office in Dhaka. The consultant will report directly to the Senior Programs Manger and S/he will also work across other departments, as well as with staff members based in India, US and other locations.
∎ This is a collaborative and facilitative role that demands focus and cultural sensitivity. The post-holder needs to be a highly resourceful individual, with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation and visual, writing/ editing, communication and research and analytical skills on virtual and classroom learning.
∎ Timeline: We estimate that the first phase of the consultancy will last for 3 months and must complete by September 15, 2021. After this first phase, there will be a scope to extend the assignment on the basis of the consultant`s performance.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The consultant will design information, education and communication (IEC) / behavioral change communication (BCC) materials both in English and Bangla, for current and potential Water.org partners, which are MFIs and banks.
∎ The consultant will review existing behavioral change communication material used by stakeholders such as WaterAid, UNICEF, World Bank, BRAC, etc.
∎ The consultant will conduct market research of the target audience, territory and partner organizations as a part of designing the aforementioned materials. The consultant is expected to consult with Water.org's existing partners extensively during this research/assessment phase.
∎ The consultant will collate and consolidate existing materials in order to create new Water.org learning materials for partners' staff. These will include posters, flipcharts, billboards, handouts, banners, and digital materials. Digital materials will include multimedia IEC videos and picture files (jpg, gif etc.) to promote WASH credit finance model for partners.
∎ The consultant will also provide a short report on the possibility of creating digital IEC/BCC materials on the basis of the aforementioned market research.
∎ The consultant will report directly to the Senior Programs Manger and will share weekly updates to him.
∎ The Consultant is expected to also facilitate a transition of the knowledge and expertise acquired through this consultancy to relevant Water.org staff at the consultancy's closure. Water.org may organize a workshop at the end of the consultancy to facilitate knowledge transfer to internal Water.org colleagues and other relevant stakeholders.
∎ Any other tasks assigned time to time as per the requirements of the consultancy project and relevant to the aforementioned scope work.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 10 years experiences in developing behavioral change materials in English and Bengali. Preference will be given to those with experience in WASH and microfinance organizations.
∎ Strong design sense and creative abilities with a body of existing design work related to behavioral change in the development sector
∎ Access to professional printers so that prototypes of the BCC materials can be printed for testing
∎ Willingness to test BCC materials at the field level
∎ Ability to communicate and collaborate with multilateral stakeholders such as World Bank, UNICEF, and WaterAid
∎ Innovative mindset oriented toward constructive problem-solving, proactive strategic development and thought leadership
∎ Strong analytical, visualization, communication, persuasion and presentation skills.
∎ Ability to work with a team and capacity for remote work and reporting
∎ Resilience and high emotional intelligence
Salary:
∎ The Consultant will charge for his/her time at a pre-determined daily rate in line with the Consultant`s experience. This daily rate will be mutually agreed upon by the Consultant and Water.org before the start of the consultancy.
