Job Context:
∎ The Senior Program Manager provides close oversight of several technical areas inclusive nutrition, gender, environment, and youth. The post holder will actively work with Bangladesh Aquaculture & Nutrition Activity (BANA)`s technical specialists to identify and engage private sector partners who can support the aims of the activity and are willing to invest in improving outcomes in these areas. The post holder will be the supervisor of this technical group and responsible for staff development, administrative issues relating to the team as well as leadership. The Senior Program Manager will have six people reporting to him/her in two offices and the post holder will travel to field offices regularly to engage staff, partners, and beneficiaries.
∎ The Senior Program Manager is a member of BANA`s senior management team and contributes to activity-wide leadership at a high level by contributing to annual plans, addressing operational issues, and modelling productive & professional behavior.
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Country Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in December 2019 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible for an initial three (3) years fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provides expert guidance and direction to the technical specialists as they work with private sector partners to design and implement activities to test market-based solutions to systemic problems.
∎ Applies project management tools to ensure timely and efficient implementation of program plans.
∎ Improves and adapts program design through internal and external collaboration and learning.
∎ Actively applies data from BANA's MEL/CLA team to activities in process and being planned.
∎ Provides consistent leadership to all program activities from design and solicitation through implementation, learning, and scaling.
∎ Regularly interacts with stakeholders and partners.
∎ Coaches and guides the technical group continuously.
∎ Ensures compliance with administrative, procurement, and finance rules.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least five years experience in managing staff.
∎ Technical thought leadership in at least two of these areas: gender, youth, environment, nutrition.
∎ Two years experience in a management role within a USAID-funded project.
∎ Project management & planning experience / skills.
∎ Strong knowledge of English in both written and oral.
