Position Purpose
To lead and manage the Accounts function of Pegasus Leathers Ltd. & Jamuna Distillery Ltd. unit of Jamuna Group, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost control, statutory compliance and efficient accounting operations across the leather manufacturing and distillery businesses. The role is responsible for maintaining financial integrity, supporting business growth, ensuring compliance with Bangladesh financial and taxation regulations and strengthening internal controls to support sustainable operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise the overall accounting operations, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Supervise General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Inventory Accounting, Cost Accounting and Payroll Accounting functions.
• Manage accounting activities related to leather processing, tannery operations, distillery production, local procurement, imports, exports and inventory movements.
• Ensure accurate accounting of raw materials, chemicals, packaging materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, by-products and production costs.
• Monitor accounting for import transactions, including LC settlements, customs duties, VAT, taxes, freight, insurance and other landed costs.
• Oversee inventory accounting for factories, warehouses and distribution points, ensuring timely reconciliation and accurate stock valuation.
• Monitor manufacturing costs and analyze production variances to support effective cost control and profitability.
• Establish, implement and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risks.
• Lead month-end and year-end financial closing activities, ensuring timely reporting and reconciliation of all accounts.
• Coordinate statutory audits, internal audits, VAT audits, tax audits, and management audits by ensuring complete and accurate financial documentation.
• Review bank reconciliations, inter-company transactions, supplier accounts, customer accounts and balance sheet schedules regularly.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and fund utilization in coordination with the Finance and Treasury functions.
• Support annual budgeting, business planning, forecasting, cost analysis and variance reporting for both leather and distillery operations.
• Prepare financial analyses, MIS reports and performance dashboards to support strategic management decisions.
• Lead ERP-based accounting operations and ensure effective utilization of accounting software and financial reporting systems.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve accounting policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and financial reporting processes.
• Coordinate closely with Commercial, Procurement, Production, Supply Chain, Export, Sales, HR, Internal Audit and ERP teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts team by enhancing technical capability, performance, and compliance culture.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the Management.
