Job Context:
∎ Senior Laboratory Strengthening Program Subject Matter Expert
∎ Reports To : The Senior Laboratory Strengthening Program Subject Matter Expert will report to Dr. Michael Friedman, at CDC-Dhaka.
∎ The successful candidate will provide technical and programmatic support for the Laboratory Strengthening Program supported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and American Society for Microbiology (ASM) in Bangladesh. S/he will work towards the success of the program goals. Specifically, the Laboratory Strengthening Program Coordinator will provide [1] strengthen relationships between CDC and partner organizations in Bangladesh, [2] provide programmatic and technical support on laboratory strengthening activities, and [3] assist with communication between the GoB, CDC, and ASM. This is a part-time position of about 10-15 hours/week and the salary will be based on experience.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Facilitation of trainings to be held with the support of ASM consultants
∎ Development of a directory of microbiologists based in Bangladesh who would be effective trainers
∎ Oversee operational requirements of laboratories in the program - Including supervision of technical work, supply needs, training and managing human resources- occasional supervisory/troubleshooting visits to labs may be required.
∎ Provide technical support at requested by ASM/CDC
∎ Foster relations with the GoB officials and colleagues at laboratories in Bangladesh, with the intent to identify future trainers
∎ Provide technical and programmatic support for the ongoing EQA program
∎ Provide support, as needed, to complete the lab redesign.

Additional Requirements:
∎ 5-10+ years relevant work experience in health laboratory quality management systems, biosafety, and specimen transfer including experience at international level
∎ 3-5+ years' experience of working in microbiology services and in management of large health projects, international coordination and collaboration.
∎ Work experience in resource-constrained setting and understanding of health systems in Bangladesh
∎ Effective working relationships with diverse groups, including co-workers, international stakeholders, funders, partners, vendors, and others.
∎ Able to work in a flexible and fluid environment
∎ Proven problem solver
∎ Fluent in English and Bengali
∎ Advanced MS Office proficiency
∎ Able to work independently and on a team
∎ Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
