Responsibilities & Context:

1. Specimen Collection & Processing: Collect, handle, and prepare biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, fluids) following standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.

2. Diagnostic Testing: Perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests across hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and clinical pathology.

3. Equipment Maintenance: Operate, calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and automated analyzers to ensure accuracy.

4. Quality Control & Assurance: Execute daily quality control (QC) checks, maintain QC logs, and troubleshoot minor testing errors or equipment discrepancies.

5. Results Verification & Reporting: Analyze test results for accuracy, verify critical values, and record findings in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for medical review.

6. Inventory & Reagent Management: Monitor lab supplies, track reagent expiry dates, and notify management to maintain stock levels without disruption.

7. Biohazard Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to laboratory biosafety protocols, infection control guidelines, and hazardous waste disposal standards.

8. Emergency & Critical Reporting: Identify and immediately report abnormal or panic test values to medical officers or attending physicians.

9. Record Keeping & Documentation: Maintain detailed, organized logs of patient tests, equipment calibration history, and quality control reports.

10. Teamwork & Collaboration: Coordinate with nurses, doctors, and lab staff to ensure smooth laboratory workflow and timely turn-around times (TAT).
