Job Context:
∎ WorldFish Bangladesh has an exciting opening for a Senior Gender Specialist. This Specialist will work both in the new USAID-funded `ECOFISH II` project and will play a country program-level role of Gender Focal Point. Overall, this position will support the WorldFish Bangladesh vision: Be the research partner of choice, delivering high impact, transformative and equitable fisheries and aquaculture solutions to reduce poverty and malnutrition in Bangladesh and South Asia.
∎ The key objective of the ECOFISH II project is to improve the resilience of the Coastal-Marine and Meghna River ecosystems and livelihoods of communities reliant on the coastal fishery. ECOFISH II will focus on livelihood improvement and biodiversity conservation for increasing hilsa and artisanal fish catch in Bangladesh waters to enhance nutrition security of fishing households. This will include a focus on innovative approaches to fishers women`s community savings groups for ensuring women`s access to resources and technologies. In ECOFISH II, the role of Senior Gender Specialist is to ensure that gender is integrated at a high quality into overall research and program objectives. The Senior Gender Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of a set innovative outputs and outcomes that are a key component of the CGIAR Research Program on FISH.
∎ Apart from playing the key project role in the project, the Senior Gender Specialist will play a central role as the Gender Focal Point for the WorldFish, Bangladesh country program. In this capacity, the Senior Gender Specialist will interact, collaborate closely and coach the wider WorldFish, Bangladesh team, other project gender specialists, and partners to ensure quality gender integration, research and communication across the country program. The Senior Gender Specialist will have the opportunity to be part of, contribute to, and learn from the multi-regional WorldFish Gender Team.
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Country Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Focal areas - Cox`s Bazar, USAID`s Zone of Resilience; periodic visits to other coastal districts in the lower Meghna region. Interviews are expected to be held on March 2020 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible. First 6 months is a probationary period, and extendable for a longer period upon satisfactory performance.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Responsible for overall gender integration in the project.
∎ Pilot a Gender Trans-formative Approach as part of this integration effort.
∎ Design and conduct both Gender strategic and integrated research, as required.
∎ Work with monitoring, evaluation and learning team to devise indicators for gender monitoring in the project.
∎ Communicate research findings indifferent national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.
∎ Design and conduct gender awareness and outreach at both institutional and community level.
∎ Acting as Gender Focal Point for WorldFish, provide strategic guidance and leadership for meeting the gender outputs and outcomes of the FISH CRP.
∎ Advance understanding of stakeholders at all levels so as to design gender sensitive interventions for different target groups.
∎ Develop and maintain partnerships and networks with organizations working on gender issues.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Seven (7) years or more practical working experience as Gender Expert/Specialist in private, public or development sector (may be relaxed for exceptionally suitable candidate).
∎ Strong knowledge of current gender concepts, approaches and strategies.
∎ A growing track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or high quality reports.
∎ Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills, including design and analysis.
∎ Excellent English communication skills and an ability to represent WorldFish with a variety of scientific and nonscientific audiences.
∎ Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, including ability to mentor or coach.
∎ Knowledge on essential computer software/packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.
∎ Working knowledge of using data analysis software packages such as Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), NVIVO, etc.
∎ Successful track record of working at the grassroots with rural communities and partners.

Salary:
∎ This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position. The salary will be negotiable depending on qualifications. WorldFish NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension / provident fund contribution.
