Experience:
diploma or bsc in nursing from an accredited academic institution.
valid registration license from the bangladesh nursing and midwifery council.
specialized training in neonatal intensive care/scanu is an asset.
at least 2 years’ experience in neonatal or pediatric care, preferably in scanu or nicu settings.
knowledge and experience in managing sick and preterm newborns, neonatal resuscitation, infection control, and family-centred care.
ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stress and emergency situations.
strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from diverse backgrounds.
capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
proficiency in english and bangla (spoken and written)
provide quality neonatal nursing care to newborns admitted in scanu, including continuous monitoring, feeding assistance, thermoregulation, and respiratory support, while evaluating patient outcomes in collaboration with the pediatric/neonatal team.
explain neonatal care procedures to parents/guardians, assist them in understanding the newborn’s condition, prescribed medications, feeding plans, and other relevant medical advice as per doctor’s orders.
refer newborns appropriately to higher-level facilities or other departments as advised by the medical team.
facilitate newborn admissions to scanu, ensure proper identification and documentation, and initiate discharge plans with comprehensive parental counselling as per doctors’ instructions.
maintain accurate and timely records of each newborn’s health status, interventions, and progress, in both paper-based and electronic systems.
ensure a sterile, safe, and well-organized scanu environment by following strict infection prevention and control protocols, including equipment disinfection and waste management.
assist medical doctors in conducting neonatal examinations, history-taking from the mother/guardian, anthropometric measurements, treatment administration, medication management, and vaccination when required.
guide and support junior nurses, support staff, and attendants in neonatal triage, infection prevention, feeding techniques, kangaroo mother care, and environmental cleanliness.
maintain a daily checklist of all scanu medical equipment, consumables, and medicines to ensure readiness, stock sufficiency, and adherence to expiration monitoring.
ensure proper operation and maintenance of neonatal care equipment (e.g., incubators, radiant warmers, phototherapy units, cpap machines, infusion pumps) by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, arranging repairs, and documenting inventory.
provide emotional support and counselling to parents/guardians to reduce anxiety and improve engagement in newborn care.
perform other neonatal-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Monthly gross salary for this position is BDT 49,504.08.
