Job Context:
∎ Background:
∎ Working with the Artemia4Bangladesh project team, Research Assistants will ensure implementation activities to establish and disseminate integrated salt, Artemia and Aquaculture to increase food and nutrition security of salt/ fish farmers.
∎ Eligibility, Location and Duration:
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Office in Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in April 2020 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence on May 2020 for an initial three (3) years fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Undertake/lead field activities, research work in the working area through coordination with research associate/s, training specialist and team leader.
∎ Engage with and motivate target community/stakeholder for active participation in project activities.
∎ Assist to prepare work plans and targets, progress reports (monthly, quarterly, annual), write scientific publications.
∎ Collect, record and document required research and monitoring and evaluation data (both qualitative and quantitative), ensure timely submission and review of quality data, and inform of any observation or issues while assisting in data analysis.
∎ Organize training/ workshop/ seminar in the working area.
∎ Provide technical assistance to set up demonstration farms for Artemia cyst and biomass, and saline tolerant species aquaculture in salt farms.
∎ Provide technical assistance to the activities to increase aquaculture production and productivity through locally produced Artemia cyst and biomass and ensure safety guidelines.
∎ Work to enhance marine aquaculture technologies such as shrimp, crab, marine fish production under the guidance of Research Associate.
∎ Provide support to Junior Research Assistants, field staffs as appropriate.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 2 (two) years' experience in research / survey work, private sector, community discussion, and data collection, organize meeting/ workshop/ seminar, writing meeting minutes, reports in Aquaculture/ fisheries or related areas.
∎ Ability and willingness to travel in remote areas with locally available transportation. Willing and able to travel by motorcycle with valid driving license.
∎ Fluency in spoken and written English.
∎ Computer literacy in standard MS Office programs, data analysis, prepare presentations.
∎ A good understanding in operation and practices of salt farms, shrimp hatcheries and farms in Bangladesh.
∎ Ability to write publications, reports.
∎ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as work individually and assist team.
∎ Committed and motivated.
Salary:
∎ This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with annual salary ranging between BDT 624,700 - BDT 662,745 per annum.
