Job Context:
∎ Background:
∎ WorldFish is hiring Research Assistant and the objective of this role is to improve the resilience of Meghna River ecosystem and livelihoods of communities reliant on the coastal fisheries.
∎ Eligibility, Location and Duration:
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Office in Bhola / Patuakhali, Bangladesh with extensive field visit. Interviews are expected to be held on May 2019. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence on June 2019 for an initial four (4) months fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Field activities of ECOFISH Bangladesh.
∎ Mobilize and engage the target community and the stakeholders jointly with partners' organizations for ensuring peoples' active participation in project activities.
∎ Assist Research Associate to form and activate co-management committees at different administrative level.
∎ Prepare monthly work plan, implement activities in line with project Intermediate Results (IRs) and submit the report on activities accomplishment.
∎ Collect all necessary field data and compile for analysis.
∎ Keep effective liaison with the government agencies and monitor the activities of partner organizations.
∎ Provide and organize training to the target beneficiaries; transfer knowledge to the fishermen and women, and community people for better management of Hilsa and other primary species of coastal region and conserve biodiversity of the aquatic species.
∎ Monitor the Alternative Income Generating activities (AIGA) implemented by the partner organization.
∎ Organize and facilitate group meeting with target people of the project.
∎ Assist central Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) team to monitor the activities of the partner organization and also collect data of different assessment related to MEL.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 2 years working experience in Community Based Fisheries Management or Fisheries or Aquaculture development and extension project with focus of field based research activities.
∎ Knowledge on basic concept of capturing fish, co-management, and socio-economic aspects of fisheries will be additional advantage.
∎ Past and relevant experience with similar job will be given preference.
∎ Excellent proficiency of spoken and written English with strong research and writing skills.
∎ Able to undertake regular field work, traveling by motorbike/ boat.
∎ Possess a valid motorbike driving license.
∎ Ability to work under pressure, and meet deadlines, committed and motivated.

Salary:
∎ This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with annual salary ranging between BDT 590,733 to BDT 626,709 per annum. WorldFish`s NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension / provident fund contribution.
