Responsibilities & Context:

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students addressing emotional, behavioral, social, academic, and personal concerns.

  • Work with parents for group counseling as and when required, and take sessions on parenting with parents, as directed by the Principal.

  • Assess students’ psychological, emotional, and behavioral needs through interviews, observations, and appropriate assessment tools.

  • Develop and implement intervention strategies and support plans for students experiencing academic, social, or emotional difficulties.

  • Guide students regarding time management, goal setting, and decision-making.

  • Assist students in developing personal skills, self-esteem, conflict resolution, stress management, and positive behavioral practices.

  • Collaborate with teachers, school administration, and parents/guardians to support student well being and academic success.

  • Conduct classroom workshops, awareness sessions, and preventive programs on mental health, bullying prevention, life skills, and emotional well-being.

  • Identify students requiring specialized psychological or medical support and make referrals to appropriate external professionals or agencies when necessary.

  • Respond appropriately to crises involving students, including behavioral emergencies, trauma, abuse concerns, and mental health risks.

  • Maintain accurate counseling records, case notes, reports, and confidential student information in accordance with school policies and professional ethics.

  • Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences, staff meetings, and professional development activities.

  • Support the implementation of child safeguarding, inclusion, and student welfare policies within the school.

  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and prepare reports or recommendations for school management and parents when required.

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment that encourages students’ emotional and academic development.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the school administration related to student guidance and psychological support services.
