Job Context:
∎ Background: Based in Bhola, and working under the guidance of the Team leader of ECOFISH II Project, the Project Coordinator Meghna River Ecosystem (MRE) will be responsible to assist and facilitate field teams to implement all project activities across 6 district (Bhola, Barisal, Patuakhali, Chandpur, Lakshmipur and Shariatpur) according to annual work plan to achieve project objectives and outputs; and ensure timely reporting to the WorldFish Dhaka office as per need. S/he will coordinate, provide guidance and technical support to the MRE staff working on the ECOFISH II project, including main and sub-implementing partners. S/he will manage and oversee sub-awards contracts at regional level (MRE area) as per guidance from WorldFish Dhaka office. S/he will prepare/compile regional level weekly/bi-weekly, quarterly and annual reports incorporating inputs from field research teams, regional partners / sub-partners / sub-awardees.
∎ Eligibility, Location and Duration: This position will be based at WorldFish`s Country Office in Bhola, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in June 2020 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible for an initial seven (7) months fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support MRE area field research team to implement the project activities following Annual Work Plan of ECOFISH II.
∎ Coordinate and assist WorldFish and Department of Fisheries in monitoring and data-collection activities to improve coastal biodiversity and Fishers' livelihood in MRE. This will include fish catch monitoring (especially artisanal marine fish and hilsa), larval study, fish biodiversity study, marine farming, fish landing centre status, MPA, pelagic dry fish production, and livelihood supports.
∎ Assist and monitor regional partners / sub-partners / sub-awardees activities in science data collection, fishers' community & beneficiary selection and livelihoods support programs including technical and financial management.
∎ Coordinate and arrange for necessary inputs in cash and kinds to the poor fishers' beneficiaries in the project sites in recommendation of the field research team and prior approval of the Team Leader.
∎ Assist to develop a functioning and effective adaptive co-management with fishing communities, relevant law-enforcing agencies, and government bodies at local and regional scales.
∎ Develop necessary training materials with the assistance of field team.
∎ Coordinate and assist to implement the project's program on women & youth empowerment, food & nutrition, livelihood diversification, M&E activities, environmental compliances and communication activities.
∎ Work in close coordination with District and Upazila Fisheries Officers and Community Leaders to undertake socio-economic, coastal biodiversity assessment and ecological surveys.
∎ Other duties as assigned by Project Team Leader and Senior Management team (Scientists, M&E and Manager).
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 7-10 years' experience in medium/large scale donor funded project implementation.
∎ Experience in participatory planning and livelihoods approaches in support of natural resources management or community development projects.
∎ Proven experiences on capture fisheries, co-management and socio-economic aspects of fisheries.
∎ Excellent communications and technical skills, fluent in both spoken and written English with excellent presentation skills
∎ Strong in essential computer/software packages e.g. Microsoft.
∎ Knowledge on small-scale fisheries (SSF); NRM; water quality monitoring; plankton and juvenile fish sampling and identification; Payments for Ecosystems Services (PES); adaptive co-management; life and livelihoods of fishing communities.
∎ Driving license for motor cycle.
Salary:
∎ This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with annual salary ranging between BDT 1,810,556 - BDT 1,978,443 per annum. WorldFish NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension / provident fund contribution.
