SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh (www.sos-bangladesh.org) is a non-governmental social development organisation that provides care and support to children who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing parental care and are deprived of a caring family environment. SOS Children’s Villages operate in 136 countries and territories worldwide. In Bangladesh, we have been working since 1972 and presently have programmes in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet, Bagerhat, Kurigram and Gazipur.
Our Programmes contribute to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a special focus on our target group to improve the national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.
SOS Bangladesh is seeking competent candidates for the following position to effectively manage the existing field-level programme and upcoming new programmes.
Nature of Job: Fixed Term Contract for One Year (Yearly renewable based on performance)
Job Location: Any SOS programme location in Bangladesh
Key Responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership and coordination of SOS programme components at the assigned location, including the Children’s Village/Alternative Care, Youth Care, Community Programmes, educational institutions and partnership projects, and oversee effective implementation of related programmes and projects.
Ensure that the individual needs, rights, and wellbeing of children and young people are respected, protected, and promoted in accordance with organisational standards.
Coordinate planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation processes for SOS Children’s Villages programmes and assigned projects.
Lead and strategically support co-workers in line with SOS Children’s Villages policies and values, as well as established and contextualised guidelines on leadership, management, and Human Resource Development (HRD).
Promote strong communication, teamwork, and knowledge sharing among SOS families, youth care co-workers, and other village co-workers.
Ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for children, youth, and caregivers, in line with child and youth safeguarding standards.
Provide professional guidance, support, and monitoring for Caregivers and facilitate their professional development.
Ensure quality youth care and development programmes within youth facilities and youth care initiatives.
Strengthen linkages between the SOS programme and neighbouring communities to enhance accessibility and community engagement.
Ensure safe programming practices and address potential risks in a timely and appropriate manner.
Contribute to the development and implementation of programme plans and entrepreneurship or livelihood development initiatives at the project level.
Contribute to the development and implementation of local advocacy initiatives related to child rights and child protection and maintain effective collaboration with relevant government authorities and social services.Facilitate implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) modules and support youth employability initiatives.
Support local fundraising initiatives, partnership development and resource mobilisation from public and private stakeholders.OR
Explore and support potential Public–Private Partnership (PPP) opportunities and resource mobilisation from public and private stakeholders.
Conduct or support studies related to livelihood opportunities, value chain development, and local market analysis.
Support the implementation of SOS monitoring and results frameworks and ensure achievement of programme targets.
Identify, document, and promote good practices and programme innovations for wider learning and replication.
Ensure effective implementation of programme changes and strategic directions introduced by the organisation and donors.
Build and maintain effective relationships with partners, stakeholders, and friends of the organisation.
Represent SOS Children’s Villages at the local level and maintain effective collaboration with government authorities, development partners and community stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies including the Code of Conduct, Child & Youth Safeguarding Policy, Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse (PSHEA) and other applicable regulations.
