Experience:

• At least 15 years
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): University

• First class or equivalent in both Bachelor and Master Degrees or PhD from a reputable university as per Private University Act 2010;

• At least 15 years academic, administrative and research experience, including minimum of 10 years of teaching experience, in reputable universities as per Private University Act 2010;

• Experience of working in senior administrative position, in any reputable university will be an added advantage;

• Professor of Life Sciences, EEE, CSE will be given preference;

• Candidates with foreign PhD (especially from Japan, South Korea, China, Scandinavia) with brilliant academic and research records will be given preference;

• Age less than 50 years will be preferred.

• Strong critical understanding of higher education scenario and regulations in Bangladesh.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. 

USTC, a pioneering private university in Bangladesh, founded by National Professor Dr Nurul Islam, is located at the picturesque site near Foy’s Lake, Chattogram. Since its inception, this university has unwrapped a new sphere and a new scope in pedagogic and industrial fields of Medicine, Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences, Engineering and Technology, and Business and Entrepreneurial Sciences in Chattogram, in Bangladesh, and in the region. From inception, USTC has continued to uphold this commitment and evolved into a dynamic institution that contributes significantly to the educational landscape. Applications are invited from qualified, experienced, outstanding scholars and administrators for the position of Pro Vice Chancellor, USTC. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Chancellor for a term of four years.  

Job Description/Responsibilities: 

• To assist the Vice Chancellor in inculcating  direction in the academic programs and research activities toward ultimate augmentation of human civilisation; 

• To contribute to innovative and liberating policy formulation, planning, and implementation that can unlock the creativity of the young learners to generate assets for humanity and trigger true global development;

• To oversee globe-resonant curriculum development and ensure academic quality and standards;

• To facilitate the sculpting of new academic programs aligned with cutting-edge priorities and civilisational needs;

• To cultivate and promote the quotidian culture of research, innovation, and publication within the university, set goals and achieve outcomes;

• To take well-engineered initiatives for upward qualitative changes, to keep consistent the auto-renewing academic standards;

• To introduce and oversee internal audits of academic processes and systems;

• To contribute in international collaborations, faculty exchange programs, and attracting research grants, etc;

• To represent the university in different multi-level forums (national and international), as required.

• To work in building industry-academia collaboration;

• To ensure implementation of the policies, regulations and guidelines of UGC, Ministry of Education, BAC, BPC, BAETE and other regulatory authorities;

• To participate closely in the activities related to accreditation, compliance reporting and regulatory inspections, etc;

• To coordinate between different Faculties, departments, and administrative units;

• To administer the matters related to student development, welfare, discipline, and academic progress;

• To ensure a safe, inclusive, and academically conducive environment in the campus;

• To work closely with statutory bodies like the Academic Council, Syndicate, and Board of Trustees;

• To support the Vice Chancellor in day-to-day operations and act as the acting VC in his absence;

• To execute any other activities assigned by the competent authority.
