• Strong understanding on sexual reproductive health services and government health system

• Proven experience in safe delivery, childbirth, neonatal care and family planning services.

Job Context

• Uttaran is an NGO working in Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged community people. Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.

• Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- “Midwife” for the " LIV: Life-Saving Integrated Support for Vulnerable Flood-Affected Communities in Matamuhuri, Cox’s Bazar District.

• Reports to: Project Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:

The Midwife will be responsible for beneficiary enrolment, the provision of antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), and family planning services, as well as the clinical assessment and enrolment of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and SRH services for Adolescent girl, in close coordination with government health service providers. She will ensure the delivery of high-quality ANC, PNC, referral, and family planning services in accordance with national guidelines, protocols, and standards, while contributing to the overall quality and effectiveness of project interventions

Objective 1: Provide quality ANC, PNC, and Family planning services

• Deliver routine ANC services to pregnant women.

• Facilitate birth plan and utilization of maternal cash

• Provide quality PNC services to lactating women.

• Conduct counselling on family planning and ensure linkages with existing family planning services.

• Facilitate referrals for maternal health complications as needed.

Objective 2: Oversee the management of uncomplicated SAM children in community health facilities by volunteers

• Supervise and mentor volunteers on full assessment, admission, follow-up, and discharge of uncomplicated SAM cases as per CMAM/national guidelines.

• Monitor treatment adherence through standard enrollment criteria, distribution of nutrition vouchers, enhanced counselling, cooking demonstrations, and provision of micronutrient supplementation.

• Ensure referral and reporting mechanisms are functional by checking that complicated cases are referred to higher-level facilities (SAM corner of UHC)

Objective 3: Sexual and Reproductive Health Services for Adolescent Girls

• Provide adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health (SRH) counselling, nutrition counseling and services.

• Monitor menstrual hygiene management (MHM) awareness sessions and support menstrual hygiene kit distribution.

• Identify, refer, and follow up adolescent girls requiring specialized SRH and MHPSS services.

Objective 4: Documentation, Reporting, and Accountability

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date beneficiary records, including maternal beneficiary cards, ANC/PNC tracking, confidential case records, and counselling documentation, in accordance with organizational and national standards.

• Prepare and submit timely reports on service delivery, referrals, activities conducted, and progress against project targets.

• Ensure accountability to affected populations (AAP) by upholding safeguarding principles, confidentiality, data protection, and informed consent in all interactions and documentation

● Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator to ensure effective project implementation.
