∎ Job Purpose: Jhpiego has been providing technical assistance to the Government of the People`s Republic of Bangladesh through United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to establish a model Midwifery Led Care unit at Shahid Shamsunnesa Arju Moni MCWC, Hazaribagh, Dhaka. The incumbent will be responsible to perform as a team member to implement the activities.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The midwife will work to accomplish her assignments under the overall guidance and supervision of the Project Specialist- Urban Health (Program Support) and Medical Officer (MCH-FP), Shahid Shamsunnesa Arju Moni MCWC, Hazaribagh, Dhaka (Services Delivery). She will be responsible to accomplish the following assignment:
∎ Services Delivery
∎ Provide high quality pre-conception counseling, antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), essential newborn care (ENC), reproductive and adolescent health care.
∎ Identify risk pregnancy/ danger sign, communicate doctors/ consultants of the facility for comprehensive emergency obstetric care and/or refer to the appropriate higher center.
∎ Provide basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care.
∎ Conduct normal vaginal delivery.
∎ Provide postpartum family planning counseling and services.
∎ Ensure appropriate/ rational use of medicines/ drugs.
∎ Ensure supply, storage, use and maintenance of MSR, instruments and update stock-ledger regularly.
∎ Documentation and reporting of maternal and neonatal health care services. Provide post abortion care (PAC), post abortion family planning (PAFP) services.
∎ Update the list of the pregnant women of the catchment area/ who attended the facility for ANC visit and follow-up over phone as a routine (for next ANC, delivery, PNC/ENC and wellbeing of mother and newborn).
∎ Provide health education to the adolescents, newly married couples, and postpartum women regarding hygiene practice, prevention of sexually transmitted infections and gender-based violence's (GBV).
∎ Monitoring and Supervision
∎ Monitor and supervise proper waste management, environmental cleanliness, and infection prevent practices.
∎ Compliance
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program's goals on safeguarding implementation. She will act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

∎ Safeguarding/ PSEA
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. She will follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

∎ Carry out any other tasks assigned by the supervisor and senior management team.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Valid registration and licensure as a Diploma Midwife in Bangladesh.
∎ Familiarity with government healthcare policies, programs and guidelines.
∎ Minimum 3 years of work experience in midwifery services.
∎ Key competencies:
∎ Support to antenatal care.
∎ Counseling, deliveries conducted, high-risk pregnancy identification.
∎ Emergency obstetric care, complication management, postpartum family planning, health education, collaboration with community health workers, patient record keeping.
∎ Medical history maintenance, quality improvement.
∎ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
∎ Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
∎ Compassionate, patient, and culturally sensitive approach to care.
∎ Proficiency in local languages and basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, internet).
