Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Provide one-on-one or group mentorship to K-12 students, offering guidance, encouragement, and support in their STEM studies
∎ Demonstrate a strong understanding of science concepts across various STEM disciplines and effectively communicate them to students
∎ Assist students in grasping challenging scientific concepts, problem-solving techniques, and critical thinking skills
∎ Collaborate with the Discovery Education and Thimble.io team to develop lesson plans, and educational resources to enhance students' learning experience
∎ Assess students' strengths and weaknesses and tailor instruction to meet their individual needs, ensuring a personalized learning experience
∎ Facilitate and guide students in conducting hands-on experiments and science projects to deepen their understanding of scientific principles
∎ Provide insight and information about potential STEM career paths, higher education opportunities, and the importance of STEM in various industries
∎ Inspire and motivate students to explore and pursue STEM education, promoting curiosity, creativity, and a passion for mathematics
∎ Track and monitor students' progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to help them succeed
∎ Collaborate with fellow mentors, educators, and parents to create a supportive and enriching learning environment for students
∎ To qualify to enter the selection process for this job, you must meet the following minimum criteria. Please do not apply if you do not meet these criteria:
∎ Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM/Science-related field (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience
∎ Strong knowledge and understanding of science concepts across various STEM disciplines
∎ 2-3 years of experience working with students, particularly children, in an educational institute tutoring, or mentoring capacity is necessary
∎ Good understanding and awareness of STEM Education Syllabus
∎ Knowledge of educational technologies and online learning platforms is an advantage
∎ Published work would be advantageous
