The Medical Technologist – CT-Scan & MRI shall be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures safely, accurately, and efficiently while ensuring high standards of patient care and compliance with hospital policies. The key responsibilities include:
Perform CT-Scan and MRI examinations as prescribed by registered physicians or consultants in accordance with established protocols.
Prepare and position patients correctly for imaging procedures, ensuring patient comfort, dignity, and safety.
Verify patient identity, examination requests, and relevant clinical history before conducting any procedure.
Operate CT-Scan and MRI equipment efficiently to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
Administer contrast media under the direction of the radiologist and in accordance with hospital protocols, while monitoring patients for any adverse reactions.
Assist radiologists and consultants during specialized imaging procedures whenever required.
Ensure radiation protection measures are strictly followed during CT examinations for patients, attendants, and staff in compliance with applicable safety regulations.
Follow MRI safety protocols, including thorough patient screening for metallic implants, pacemakers, and other contraindications.
Monitor patients throughout imaging procedures and respond appropriately to medical emergencies by following established emergency protocols.
Maintain accurate records of examinations performed and ensure timely entry of patient information into the Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), as applicable.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and confidentiality of patient records and diagnostic images.
Perform routine equipment checks and promptly report any malfunction or technical issues to the Head of Department and Biomedical Engineering Department.
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of CT-Scan and MRI rooms, equipment, and accessories in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.
Ensure adequate availability of consumables, contrast agents, and imaging supplies and report shortages in a timely manner.
Adhere to quality assurance and quality control procedures to maintain optimal imaging standards.
Comply with all hospital policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), patient safety protocols, infection prevention and control guidelines, and accreditation standards.
Maintain professional communication and provide courteous service to patients, attendants, physicians, and colleagues.
Participate in departmental meetings, continuing medical education (CME), training programs, and competency development activities.
Assist in orienting and training newly appointed technologists, interns, and students whenever assigned.
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and hospital data in accordance with applicable laws and hospital policies.
Perform duties during shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency on-call services as assigned by the management.
Carry out any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head of Radiology & Imaging, Deputy Director or the Management of Universal Medical College & Hospital Ltd. from time to time.
