Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Law (LLB)
∎ Masters/Bachelors in Commerce or equivalent qualification from an approved University
∎ Full knowledge of Indirect Tax laws relating to Customs and VAT
∎ Working knowledge on related regulatory compliances in respect of Trade Licence, IRC/ERC from the CCIE, Chamber membership certificate, Factory licence, FIre licence, BIDA, Environmental clearance certificate etc.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ PwC Bangladesh Indirect Tax Practice provides comprehensive advice and assistance on Customs, VAT, Foreign Trade Policy, Free Trade Agreements and Cross border supply chains and anti-dumping duties. Our Services include the following:
∎ Advisory
∎ Advice on classification, valuation, applicability of taxes on transactions and admissibility to tax benefits/exemptions
∎ Opinions on other indirect tax issues
∎ Providing innovative but rigorous tax planning ideas
∎ Indirect Tax Reviews / Health Checks /Due Diligence Reviews
∎ Undertaking comprehensive reviews of business operations to identify tax planning opportunities as well as compliance gaps
∎ Conducting detailed indirect tax due diligence reviews (buy side / sell side)
∎ Compliance Support and Outsourcing
∎ Indirect tax compliance support/ outsourcing support to companies/entities across the country of Bangladesh
∎ Preparation of customised compliance manuals on Customs, VAT matters
∎ Provision of complete support for any customs proceedings
∎ Litigation support
∎ Drafting replies to notices and Drafting appeals and submissions
∎ Appearances and arguments before adjudication and appellate authorities up to the Tribunal
∎ Appearance and arguments before Customs/anti-dumping authorities
∎ Briefing of Senior Counsel
∎ General
∎ Undertaking marketing for assignments
∎ Leading client relationship
∎ We also provide for Strategic Consulting, Trade Facilitation and Representation services
Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ The profile should match with the aforesaid job descriptions.
∎ To qualify for the same, an Manager will essentially need to have the following experience/exposure:
∎ The experience should be a mixture of both from Industry and consulting organisation.
∎ 8- 12 years Industry experience from large multinational/Bangladeshi conglomerate handling all Indirect tax matters independently in a senior position and reporting to the Director Finance level.
∎ 5-6 years consulting experience in a multinational consulting firm handling both manufacturing and service industry.
∎ 5-6 years of experience in handling cross border indirect tax matters covering Bangladesh, India, Nepal and other SAARC countries.
∎ Experience in representing Companies before the senior officials of National Board of Revenue in the matter of advance ruling or any other matter.
∎ Exposure in presenting Indirect Tax matters in seminars or representing before various business chambers, ministry of Finance.
∎ Experience in handling both Customs and VAT appeals up to the stage of Tribunal.
∎ Exposure in publishing articles/journals in leading dailies on the budgetary impact of Indirect Tax laws.
∎ Other prerequisite skills include:
∎ Expert knowledge of indirect tax laws relating to Customs and VAT laws is expected.
∎ Should also possess expert knowledge on VAT & SD Act/Rules.
∎ Excel, presentation and report writing skills are extremely important
∎ Good communication and interpersonal skills
