Job Context:
∎ This is a three (3) months temporary position
∎ Eligibility, Location and Duration:
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in Spetember 2019 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence by September 2019 for an initial three (3) months temporary contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
∎ Background:
∎ The Livelihood Specialist will be responsible for building and expediting a coherent program of research and development activities aimed at:
∎ Enhancing the socio-ecological and economic resilience of target communities;
∎ Strengthening the adaptive co-management of the Hilsha and Coastal fisheries of ZOR (Zone of Resilience) through livelihood support.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support co-management options for the Hilsa and fisheries in riverine, estuarine, and marine habitats.
∎ Explore and instigate options for livelihood diversification to benefit poor and vulnerable fishing communities of the Meghna and Cox's Bazar fishers regions.
∎ Mobilize "access to finance (A2F)" for technology uptake, particularly targeting poor women fishers.
∎ Provide necessary training to fisher men and fisher women for scaling of best practices on livelihoods/AIGAs for improved community resilience.
∎ Synthesize learning from the project producing quality scientific output and other communication materials.
∎ Maintain productive relations with donors and partners to mobilize resources in support other project and the broader WorldFish research in development agenda.

Additional Requirements:
∎ This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:
∎ Evidence of stakeholder engagement and use of participatory action research approaches in implementing either fisheries co-management, micro-finance, and/or alternative livelihood activities for pro-poor food security and poverty reduction in poor coastal communities.
∎ At least 5 years' experience in project programming, implementation, and staff supervision.
∎ At least 5 years' experience in Livelihood related activities.
∎ Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, and the use of participatory action research approaches.
∎ Understanding of the role of social norms/cultural beliefs in fisheries management and how they might help build adaptive capacity and resilient livelihoods and gender-equitable outcomes.
∎ Proven ability to successfully lead multi-disciplinary teams and partners from senior international organizations and national governments to field staff.
∎ Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bangla with strong research and writing skills.
∎ Desired Skills and Qualification:
∎ Experience in using spatially explicit data and databases; information technology skills for rapid data collection/storage/retrieval/sharing.
∎ Use of Theory of Change (ToC) concept for planning, implementing, and monitoring.
∎ Ability to relate individual and organizational activities/outputs to the broader Intermediate Development Outcomes (IDOs) and System-Level Outcomes (SLOs) of the CGIAR Research Program on Aquatic Agricultural Systems.
∎ Experience with Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) competency in systems thinking and a knowledge of how to apply systems research methodologies.

Salary:
∎ Salary ranging in between BDT 1,10,000 to BDT 1,25,000 monthly.
