Job Context:
∎ The In-Country Coordinator (ICC) in Bangladesh will work in partnership with civil society organizations and multilateral organizations to advocate for policy change and engage in regulatory reforms that aim to improve road safety.
∎ Objective:
∎ The ideal ICC will have had experience working with the government of Bangladesh and have a good sense of the political and media landscape in Bangladesh. He/She will have knowledge of the policy-making process in Bangladesh, and ideally a background in public health and/or policy advocacy; proven ability to develop and work in partnership with multiple stakeholders and experience in working with government agencies and officials. This is a full-time coordinator position (20 to 22 days each month for 12 months) and will be based in Dhaka. This position reports to the Associate Director Advocacy.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Primary Duties:
∎ Coordinate work of GHAI contractors and Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) grantees to advance comprehensive road safety policies in Bangladesh. Those duties include the following:
∎ Apply a strong working knowledge of the Bangladeshi political and administrative systems, process and players to identify opportunities for change in policies, specifically as it relates to ensuring road safety in Bangladesh;
∎ Track and monitor developments regarding road safety measures in Bangladesh;
∎ Engage in a proactive approach to engagement with grantees through assisting in the development of the political analysis and mapping, as well as building relationships with key government officials and political leaders;
∎ Provide hands-on advice in the Bangladesh context on challenges and opportunities in the legislative process;
∎ Translate concepts provide cultural and social nuance; sharing and disseminating information to both grantees and GHAI staff;
∎ Suggest strategies (direct contact, media, public education) for providing evidence and best practices to support government officials and policy makers;
∎ Facilitate meetings with grantees and partners for joint strategy formulation and execution;
∎ Proactively and closely engage with grantees to help them capitalize on new developments in Bangladesh and other countries and into implementable project activities to move the agenda forward;
∎ Identify new organizations to engage r road safety efforts in Bangladesh;
∎ Work collaboratively with local and global partners;
∎ Participate in regional cross-learning opportunities with advocates in existing GHAI road safety countries;
∎ Participate in weekly telephonic meetings with GHAI/GRSP;
∎ Help organize workshops, trainings and meetings, and take on other duties as needed; and
∎ Perform other relevant tasks that may be assigned by the GHAI Associate Director
∎ Some international and local travel is required.
∎ Reporting:
∎ At the end of each month, the ICC will provide a monthly activity report detailing specific activities, meetings attended, campaign progress and other details in accordance with the position's primary duties.

∎ A minimum of 7 years of professional experience coordinating and managing a wide variety of projects including advocacy or policy change.
∎ Strong understanding of political and media environments.
∎ Strong understanding and experience in road safety and/or transport sector
∎ Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
∎ Commitment to public health and public interest work; road safety knowledge and experience preferred.
∎ Ability to communicate complex issues in a concise, compelling, and easily understandable manner both verbally and in writing.
∎ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
∎ Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a dynamic and dispersed team.
∎ Ability to work effectively and to report and communicate regularly and promptly with supervisor in a long distance management set-up.
∎ A track record of working in an empowering and culturally sensitive style with an array of partners and stakeholders, and
∎ Proven ability to translate organizational program strategies, priorities, plans and budgets into results-oriented action plans at country-level.
