The Head of Accounts is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial affairs of Al-hidaayah International School. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, auditing and fee management, in accordance with both regional accounting practices and Islamic ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning and Budgeting
Lead the development and monitoring of the school’s annual and term-wise budgets.
Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic and long-term planning.
Provide timely financial updates and budget variance reports to the school management.
2. Accounting Operations
Oversee all accounting functions including accounts receivable, payable, payroll, petty cash, recovery and bank reconciliations.
Collaborate closely with the HR Department on payroll processing, salary disbursements, employee benefits, deductions and statutory compliance (e.g., tax filings, provident fund gratuity, etc.).
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in recording transactions and maintaining the general ledger.
Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
3. Audit and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure adherence to national accounting standards, tax obligations and regulatory frameworks.
Coordinate internal and external audits; resolve audit queries and implement auditor recommendations.
Maintain robust documentation and internal controls to support financial transparency and accountability.
4. Fee Management
Supervise the full fee lifecycle: invoicing, receipting, discounts, dues and collections.
Implement efficient tracking and follow-up systems for outstanding balances.
Collaborate with Student Affairs department to keep student financial records accurate and current.
5. Team Leadership and Development
Lead and mentor the accounts team ensuring professional growth and high standards of work.
Develop strong coordination with HR department for efficient handling of payroll and employee-related financial operations.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement training or upskilling initiatives.
Promote a culture of integrity, transparency and continuous improvement in financial operations.
6. Vendor and Procurement Oversight
Review vendor agreements and ensure timely payments in line with contractual obligations.
Monitor procurement processes for compliance with internal financial guidelines and proper documentation.
Collaborate with Admin department for cost-effective and transparent vendor engagement.
7. Strategic Financial Advisory
Provide financial analysis, projections and insights to support strategic decisions by the school management
Prepare financial risk assessments, cost-benefit analyses and feasibility reports for new initiatives.
Advise on long-term financial sustainability, cash flow management and reserve planning.
8. Digital and System Management
Oversee the use of digital accounting tools or ERP Accounts modules for efficient record-keeping.
Coordinate with ERP Facilitator to ensure secure, cloud-based access to financial data where applicable.
Ensure backups and access protocols are maintained to protect sensitive financial information.
9. Institutional and Ethical Alignment
Ensure all financial practices align with the school`s Islamic values, including fairness, transparency and prohibition of interest-based dealings.
Stay informed about Islamic financial principles and integrate them into applicable policies and procedures.
