Job Context:
∎ Background: The Gender and Environmental Specialist will be responsible to develop research activities to enhance socio-ecological and economic resilience of target communities, and in particular women along with the responsibilities to do environmental compliance and management activities. S/he will work closely with three senior level scientists seeking to strengthen adaptive co-management of Hilsa fisheries, application of improved science-based fisheries management decision-making, and enhance socio-ecological and economic conditions of the fishers` community.
∎ Eligibility, Location and Duration: This position will be based at WorldFish`s Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in August 2019 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence by August 2019 for an initial four (4) months temporary contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Improve the design and implementation of gender research and community engagement within resource and conservation planning and decision making, with the specific aim of enhancing wellbeing in gender equitable ways.
∎ Integrate and lead gender-focused research in all project activities, e.g. community-based monitoring of target fisheries, payment for ecosystem services scheme and evaluate the gender equitable outcomes.
∎ Provide scientific leadership, mentoring and advice to other project team members, partners and stakeholders in relation to gender integration and environmental compliance.
∎ Develop an Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) and a systemic approach for effective implementation of that plan.
∎ Supervise to conduct surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment that could have impact on the environment or the public health.
∎ Synthesize learning and produce quality scientific documents as required by the funding agency, for internal WorldFish requirements and broader national and international science and development communities.
∎ Working closely with the gender team of WorldFish, advance understanding of the impact and roles of fisheries management in achieving CGIAR intermediate development outcomes and of sustain-ably and equitably meeting food, nutrition and poverty reduction goals.

Additional Requirements:
∎ This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:
∎ More than 5 years' experience in Gender, Development and Environment.
∎ Excellent communication skills and an ability to make presentations and represent World Fish center with a variety of audiences.
∎ Sound technical knowledge on range of communication tools, documentation of project outputs.
∎ Knowledge on essential computer software/packages like MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, internet use etc.

Salary:
∎ This is a four (4) months temporary position with salary ranging in between BDT 90,000 to BDT 1,10,000 monthly.
