About ZENJI
ZENJI is an original anime-inspired streetwear label built for everyone. We don't borrow characters or copy what already exists — we draw on the spirit of anime (its energy, line work, storytelling, and attitude) to create our own unisex pieces. The aesthetic is premium and restrained: bold ideas, clean execution, nothing overdone.
We're looking for an Apparel Designer to own garment design across the collection — translating concepts into well-constructed, production-ready unisex pieces that hit our premium standard.
Role Snapshot
Title: Apparel Designer
Experience: 3–4 years in apparel/streetwear design
What you'll do
Design original unisex streetwear garments — tees, hoodies, outerwear, bottoms, and accessories — from concept through to production-ready output.
Develop silhouettes, fits, and constructions that carry ZENJI's anime-influenced visual language without using any copyrighted IP.
Create detailed flats and specs in Illustrator, and build clean tech packs (measurements, points of measure, colourways, trims, construction notes, print/placement specs).
Own garment fit — review samples, mark corrections, and manage fittings through to approval against ZENJI's premium quality standard.
Select fabrics, trims, and finishings appropriate to each piece, balancing quality, cost, and feel.
Work directly with remote manufacturing partners on sampling, corrections, and production hand-off.
Maintain a coherent seasonal range plan and keep the line visually and structurally consistent with the brand's restrained, elevated aesthetic.
Stay across streetwear, anime, and youth-culture trends while keeping ZENJI's voice original and recognisable.
What you bring
3–4 years designing apparel, ideally in streetwear, graphic-led, or contemporary fashion.
A portfolio showing original garment work — strong construction and fit sensibility, with an anime/illustrative leaning a plus.
Fluency in Adobe Illustrator (flats, specs) and Photoshop; confident building production-ready tech packs.
Solid grasp of garment construction, pattern logic, fabrics, and trims, and how design decisions translate to production.
Working knowledge of apparel print/decoration methods (screen print, DTG, embroidery) and how they sit on a garment.
A strong eye for proportion, detail, and finish, plus the discipline to keep things clean rather than cluttered.
Clear understanding of designing for a unisex fit and audience.
Reliable communication and the ability to manage timelines across remote manufacturing partners.
Nice to have
Experience designing for a DTC / e-commerce brand.
Original illustration or character-design skill.
Familiarity with sustainable or small-batch production.
