Job Context:
∎ iDE seeks a qualified Expert-Knowledge Management and Gender for its Scaling up Sanitation Market Systems Bangladesh- SanMarkS II Project. The goal of this project is to increase access to sanitation facilities in Bangladesh using iDE`s systems-based approach to sanitation.
∎ The Expert-Knowledge Management and Gender is a cross cutting role that ensures inclusion of vulnerable communities, supports the design of behavioral change initiatives and leads documentation in a structured approach. The incumbent of this role will work in close collaboration with the Project Manager. In this role, they will extend necessary support to ensure that the Project activities, training methods and implementation plans consider inclusion and participation of women, adolescents, disabled communities and any other vulnerable communities that are relevant for the Project. In addition to this, the incumbent of the role will oversee internal, external communications and knowledge management strategies to strengthen communication and knowledge-sharing between the project staff, donors, partners and the broader sanitation stakeholders. The Expert-Knowledge Management and Gender, will ensure that training content for internal staff and partners are developed and sensitized for women, disabled and other marginalized or vulnerable communities.
∎ The incumbent of the role will provide communications advice and guidance, produce communications tools and products for distribution to prioritize audiences, manage knowledge resources for improved internal and external accessibility and support follow on use by marketing and communications among project stakeholders. In addition to the above, they also need to keep track of national and global policies pertaining to Gender and take measures to educate the Project team to enhance their knowledge and orientation regarding Gender sensitization activities.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The responsibilities of the Expert-Knowledge Management and Gender include but are not limited to the descriptions below.



∎ General Responsibilities :
∎ Review scope for integrating women and disabled community's participation in different project activities.
∎ Develop and oversee the implementation of an annual communications and knowledge management strategy
∎ Identify strategies to effectively reach vulnerable communities in coordination with Technical Specialists and Field teams.
∎ Support the Project Manager in the documentation management and internal communications for the Project.
∎ Support in developing a documentation system is setup and maintained, providing necessary guidance and support to different teams in the Project
∎ Incorporate a "learning agenda" within the project, capturing different impact stories and encouraging field teams to undertake similar activities in coordination with the Project Manager
∎ Assess, understand and adhere to current knowledge management practices followed by iDE
∎ Review what has been developed to date, and develop a digital inventory of existing documents, products and collateral
∎ With guidance from the Project Manager, develop specific knowledge products for the identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned. Document lessons learned related, evaluate impact and modify approaches as needed
∎ Assist in developing sanitation market system related training, tools, guidelines, standards to improve program quality
∎ Setting the tone:
∎ Support in the adoption of measures to enhance the Gender and Communications aspects of the Project
∎ Ensure that all documentation, implementation plans and activities are gender inclusive and encourage participation of women.
∎ Actively and openly engage with the Project Manager, Private Sector Partners and Technical Specialists to strengthen sector strategy
∎ Engage with project team to resolve challenges
∎ Actively pursue ways to collect and share impact stories, learnings and challenges in implementation within and outside the Organization following necessary Communication guidelines
∎ Planning, and Strategy Development:
∎ Collaboratively plan and implement project activities through the preparation of multiyear and annual work plan in collaboration with the Project Manager and field teams
∎ Maintain a communications calendar with key events, dates, and deadlines throughout the year.
∎ Identify print, electronic, and in-person vehicles to communicate with key audiences and increase project awareness and partnership opportunities
∎ Conduct regular evaluations of communications and knowledge management outcomes, and adjust the strategy as needed.
∎ Assist the Field Team Leader and Field Technical Specialist in planning and implementation of communication and knowledge management strategy
∎ Reporting and Submissions:
∎ Assist Project Manager to submit timely donor reports on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis as determined in the contract
∎ Assist Project Manager to manage the contracting cycle and the required project documentation
∎ Present progress report and other reports on a regular basis, document the key learning & findings, ensure accurate and timely data entry into the database
∎ Create and update promotional materials, including one pagers, brochures, presentations, case stories, etc.
∎ Finance and Administration:
∎ Carry out responsibilities in financial management and administration at the local level and ensure the efficient use of the project resources with consultation of supervisor
∎ Monitoring and Evaluation:
∎ Support the E&A Expert in monitoring and result measurement related tasks
∎ Work with technical specialist and field teams to review and revise results measurement plans
∎ Actively engage in initiating best practices, key learnings, unique cases and other relevant documentation to share with the wider team
∎ Monitor current market linkage system of local Service Providers, collect regular sales data and accelerate the process into ROI for the stakeholders/client
∎ Supervisor and Staff Development:
∎ Assist in development of guidelines/tools that required for field implementation and orient staff and partners on the tools and guidelines
∎ Provides close and supportive supervision and guidance to the field team and other stakeholders in the assigned areas to demonstrate outcomes and impact
∎ Manage consultants and oversee the delivery of consulting assignments
∎ Coordination and Support:
∎ Participate in relevant working groups and Dhaka-level PM meetings and workshops
∎ Maintain close contact and communication for project planning, strategy formulation and other issues with supervisor, technical specialists, private sector partners and institutional support teams
∎ Quarterly travel to all field hubs at least once for problem solving and systems development
∎ Rapport Building:
∎ Quarterly travel to all project areas at least once for problem solving and systems development using the CLEAR framework (Connect, Listen, Educate, Ask, Resolve)
∎ Engage with training provider partners to develop collaborative work plans
∎ Other Responsibilities:
∎ Actively follow and engage with Global initiatives in other countries and other Bangladesh programs for stronger network connections
∎ Actively learn and develop skills related to online platforms used by iDE including but not limited to: Salesforce, Smartsheets, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets
∎ Maintain use of online platforms for sharing reports, documents and data
∎ Represent iDE at external events and meetings as agreed with supervisor
∎ Participate in all relevant meetings and workshops
∎ Undertake additional tasks subject to workload and skill sets such as photography, cross-project trainings and evaluations

Additional Requirements:
∎ Work Experience:
∎ At least 3 experience in the communications field, planning, writing, editing, and producing communications through a variety of print and online media
∎ Previous experience with Gender, disability inclusion especially in sensitization, mainstreaming is desired
∎ Prior knowledge in the WASH sector is preferred but not mandatory
∎ Proven knowledge to incorporate qualitative analysis to develop design directions for solving the problems
∎ Experience with managing content on websites and social media platforms
∎ Photography and/or video editing skills preferred.
∎ Experience with webinars and online learning platforms. Adobe Connect experience is a plus.
∎ Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Premiere). Graphic design experience a plus
∎ Management and Programmatic Skills:
∎ Has strong ownership of tasks, focuses on delivering results
∎ Proactive approach in integrating Gender sensitization within the Project activities and approach
∎ Understands the facilitative role of the market development approach
∎ Personal Skills:
∎ Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
∎ Ability to work with various national and international team members and flexibility to adapt to different work conditions
∎ Ability to interact and collaborate with a broad range of public and private sector and NGO partners
∎ Physical and Language Skills:
∎ Ability to travel and undertake fieldwork in rural contexts
∎ Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to Convey messages through clear and concise writing.
∎ Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, email and the internet
∎ Familiarity with internet based software systems such as Google App
∎ Excellent presentation design skills with visual graphic for targeted audiences
∎ Other Information and Conditions:
∎ The position would be the regular employment of iDE-B
∎ The remuneration package, work days and deliverables might be change based on negotiation between iDE management and the contract
∎ iDE reserves the right to terminate this agreement at any time with the consultation of the employee as per HR policy
