POSITION: Duolingo English Test Instructor & Counselor

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualifications & Credentials:

Minimum IELTS Score: 7.0 or above

Duolingo English Test Practice Score: Minimum 125

English language proficiency certified through standardized testing

Student Counseling & Guidance:

• One-to-One Student Counselling Sessions

• Conduct individual counseling sessions to understand student goals and aspirations

• Assess student's current English proficiency level

• Create personalized learning pathways based on student needs

Duolingo English Test (DET) Awareness & Education

• Explain what the Duolingo English Test is and how it differs from other English proficiency tests (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.)

• Clarify test format, structure, scoring system, and validity

• Highlight why universities and organizations accept Duolingo English Test scores

• Educate students on test advantages (affordability, accessibility, quick turnaround)

Student Motivation & Persuasion

• Counsel students on why they should take the Duolingo English Test

• Convince hesitant students about the benefits and credibility of the test

• Address student concerns and doubts regarding test validity and recognition

• Build confidence in students before they attempt the test

• Explain the relevance of Duolingo scores for university admissions, job applications, and immigration purposes

• Listen actively to understand each student's goals, challenges, and constraints

• Identify specific areas where students need improvement

• Recognize different learning styles and adapt counseling accordingly

• Test Preparation Guidance

• Provide guidance on Duolingo practice tests and study materials

• Suggest study strategies and resource recommendations

• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback

Documentation & Follow-up

• Maintain counseling records and student progress notes

• Follow up with students after test attempts

• Track student outcomes and success rates

Professional Development

• Stay updated on Duolingo English Test updates and changes

• Keep knowledge current on university/organization policies regarding test acceptance

• Attend relevant training sessions and workshops
