Educational Requirements:
∎ Master of Science in Aquaculture, Animal Nutrition, Aquatic Ecology or related fields.
∎ Minimum of 6 years education during the period of Bachelor Science and Master of Science with high academic achievement (grades).
Additional Requirements:
∎ This studentship will harness the energy requirement of three carp species which is now in the process of genetic improvement by WorldFish. Focus for this study will be shifting to plant based carbohydrate ingredients in fish diet. The student will acquire minimum 30 ECT dedicated to training and supervision of research projects. Learn on writing research proposal by completing a detailed PhD research proposal outlining research questions and research plan and submit to Wageningen University for peer review. In addition to the research proposal the candidate will also learn how to manage a research experiment by developing an individual research protocol for each experiment listed in his/her approved PhD proposal and also by executing experiments, collect samples and data from the experiment as per protocol with high scientific standard. At end of the experiments S/he will summarize research outcomes in minimum 4 scientific papers submitted to well reputed international journals (with impact factor above 1). S/he will gain confidence in presenting scientific results by participation in international conferences and will develop excellent scientific writing skill by writing science papers and PhD thesis. Finally s/he will defend the thesis publicly according to the PhD regulations set by Wageningen University.
∎ Fluent in writing and speaking English with minimum IELTS score 6.5 (IELTS score 7 is preferred).
∎ Preference will be given to the candidates who has experience of conducting research on fish nutrition and on Indian major carps (IMCs) such as rohu, catla and GIFT Tilapia.
∎ Published paper(s) in peer reviewed journals will be an added advantage.
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ The studentship will cover the cost of international tuition fees, supervision fees and chair group bench fees for Wageningen University, international travels, plus stipend for 4 years. Interviews are expected
