Job Context:

We are seeking a creative and dynamic Designer Team Leader to join our ethically-driven not-for-profit company. In this role, you will lead our design team in developing innovative handcrafted products for both export and domestic markets, contributing directly to employment creation and income generation for rural women artisans.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and guide the design team in developing new and innovative handicraft products for local and international buyers.
• Communicate effectively with buyers, production units, and partners on product design and quality assurance matters.
• Oversee the preparation of promotional content, including advertisements, images, videos, and producers’ stories.
• Train and support designers in creating prototypes based on customer requirements and marketing insights.
• Provide creative direction for graphics and product designs that align with customer expectations.
• Explore and share both contemporary and traditional design concepts with the team and partners.
• Develop new product lines by researching market trends, buyers’ needs, and expert inputs.
• Supervise all design department functions and ensure alignment with buyers’ and partners’ expectations.
• Present final concepts and ideas to designers, buyers, and other stakeholders.
• Provide training on product quality assurance and development for designers, producers, and partners.
• Foster strong teamwork and collaboration within the design team.
• Plan and facilitate meetings for designers and promotional packages in line with organizational cycles.
• Mentor designers to enhance their leadership skills and independence.
• Identify and arrange training and exposure visits to strengthen design expertise.
• Introduce motivational tools to encourage designers’ creativity and dedication.
• Assist in resolving internal and external issues as required.
• Participate actively in management team meetings and organizational decision-making processes.
• Work closely with marketing, design, and production teams as well as partners.
• Facilitate visits of international buyers and support them as needed.
• Maintain strong relationships with Prokritee staff, partners, and stakeholders.
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor or his/her designate.
