Job Context:
∎ Based in Dhaka Project Office and Reports to the Manager- Training, Esho Shikhi project
∎ Position Overview:
∎ The Deputy Manager - Training is part of USAID`s Esho Shikhi Project (Esho Shiki) that is aiming to increase access and improve the learning outcomes of marginalized Bangladeshi children in marginalized and vulnerable communities. The position will be responsible for the development of the modules and training materials for the teachers, master trainers and govt officials ensuring that the contents of the modules are effective and adhere to national curriculum and developed teaching-learning materials for the Esho Shikhi project. S/he will also be responsible for developing orientation guideline for the developed digital contents and materials.

∎ This position will be based in the Esho Shikhi Project Office, Dhaka. S/he will report to the Manager- Training and will work closely with the Literacy Team of Room to Read Bangladesh.
∎ This position will require frequent travel to project sites, as well as regular interaction with education officials, partners, Head-Teachers and teachers.
∎ The position is contingent upon donor approval.
∎ The appointment will be made initially for 2 years with possibility of extension based on fund availability.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop training plan, training content, training modules/manuals for all types of trainings planned by Esho Shikhi projects.
∎ Closely work with the DPE manual development experts for development of the Master trainer training module and teacher training module on improved Bangla instructions
∎ Identify the master trainer training module contents, write the module, field test, share, and review the contents through a validation workshop
∎ Develop orientation guidelines and module for Esho Shikhi to support the interventions related to print-rich classroom, creating locally sourced teaching and learning materials, parental engagement to support learning at home, reading recovery campaign or remedial support by community volunteer and play-based classroom activities that build on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
∎ Provide orientation on developed digital contents to support remote learning though community hubs, social media, radio/TV, SMS/IVR push
∎ Carry out necessary revisions in training modules and activities based on feedback from the cohort-implementation and results emanating from reading assessments, in consultation with govt and other experts in the field.
∎ Manage the process of designing the training modules and materials for Esho Shikhi project which may involve DTP consultants, drafting manuscripts, reviewing, editing, sending to print, etc.
∎ Regularly coordinate with content development team and Admin/Procurement team to ensure the fidelity of design and quality of implementation.
∎ Documents best practices and lessons learned from direct implementation to integrate learnings in improvement of training materials design and facilitation strategies.
∎ Participates in any other activities which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of Esho Shikhi project.

Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 5 years of professional experience on training module development and facilitation skills,
∎ In-depth knowledge and understanding of early grade reading interventions and approaches, teaching-learning materials development, and teaching methodologies at primary school.
∎ In-depth knowledge and experience of printing and publication process- manuscript editing, design and layout experience
∎ Work well independently as well as part of a team
∎ Ability and desire to travel frequently to visit school sites
∎ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Bangla and English
∎ Preferred:

∎ Experience in teaching at the primary school
∎ Prior experience in printing and publishing field
∎ Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
∎ Prior experience of working in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
∎ Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
∎ Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative
