Experience & Skills:

  • Must have 10 years of experience in a similar senior management role.

  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and multi-sectoral programs.

  • Strong skills in planning, budgeting, and quality program management (PDQ).

  • Experience in climate change, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, food security, health-nutrition, and advocacy.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong facilitation and staff capacity-building ability.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and report writing in English.

  • Physically and mentally fit, energetic, and adaptable.

Responsibilities & Context:

Organizational Summary: Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB) is a national NGO, working since 1973 for improving life and livelihood of poor and marginalized people in Bangladesh. Currently CCDB has been working in 29 districts with over 10,000,00 direct participants in different programs. Major interventions of CCDB include poverty reduction, food security & livelihood, woman empowerment, climate change resilience building adaptation and mitigation, peace promotion, emergency / humanitarian programs, resettlement, carbon enterprise, biochar, micro finance program etc. In addition, CCDB is also involved with different advocacy initiative through different partners at national/international level.

Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Executive Director (ED), the Deputy Executive Director (DED) will provide strategic and managerial leadership to the Senior Management Team (SMT) and Section Heads to achieve CCDB’s mission and program objectives. The DED will support program quality, organizational governance, ensuring compliance, accountability, and transparency. The role includes facilitating and coordinating multi aspects program effective implementation, policy and strategy development, building staff capacity, and representing CCDB at national and international levels.

Responsibilities of the Position and Duties:

1.     Organizational Strategy & Program Development

  • Support the ED in developing and implementing organizational strategies aligned with CCDB’s mission, vision, and policies.
  • Facilitate the preparation of project implementation guidelines and strategy papers.
  • Ensure all programs have clear implementation frameworks and that staff are properly oriented on them.

    2. Program Quality & Planning

  • Guide SMT in preparing project proposals, budgets, and detailed implementation plans.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of program delivery through regular reviews and monitoring.
  • Conduct field visits and participate in review meetings to provide guidance and feedback.

    3. Administration & Emergency Response

  • Assist ED and Admin team to ensure safety, security, and asset management.
  • Oversee procurement processes in coordination with Finance and Audit units.
  • Supervise emergency response programs, including humanitarian initiatives.

    4. Resettlement Program

  • Supervise Resettlement Program teams, ensuring smooth operations and coordination with government and donor agencies.
  • Support ED in approval of staff salaries, program income, and HR matters.

   5. Governance, Accountability & Audit

  • Ensure both internal and external audits are completed as per organizational and legal requirements.
  • Support transparent reporting to CCDB Commission, Donors, NGOAB, and relevant authorities.

  6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and donor reports.
  • Lead documentation of case studies, publications, and visibility materials.

7. Networking, Advocacy & Representation

  • Advocate on issues related to climate change, disaster risk reduction, gender, and human rights.
  • Strengthen CCDB’s presence in relevant national and international networks and alliances.
  • Represent CCDB and ED at external forums and policy dialogues.
