Educational Requirements:
∎ Master's degree in the field of fisheries, marine biology or any other aquaculture relevant discipline.

Job Context:
∎ Objectives: The aim of this work is to provide a foundation upon which research into future interventions to establish a sustainable supply of P. monodon broodstock can build.
∎ Location and Duration: The successful consultant will be based in Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh with extensive field visit if requires. The selection of consultant will be based on the relevant qualification and experience and the most competitive proposal. The interviews are expected to be held in December 2020 and only shortlisted consultant will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful consultant should be available to commence the consultancy contract for a maximum of fifty (50) working days in between 1 January 2021 till 10 March 2021.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The consultant will work under the supervision of the Aquaculture Specialist - Aquatic Animal Health to coordinate and conduct stakeholder interviews/surveys, gather the appropriate information through literature searches, and support the Aquaculture Specialist - Aquatic Animal Health in compiling the final situational analysis report. This will all be in coordination with an international consultant and the UoE and WF team members. The Major tasks for this work as:
∎ Support WorldFish and the UoE team in gathering all background information on P monodon broodstock in Bangladesh (BD), including the history of P monodon broodstock in BD - why BD remains focused on P monodon, changes over the years in terms of practices, regulations, brood quality, disease pattern, availability, seasonality etc. and any previous recorded information on attempts or calls for a domesticated broodstock supply in BD. Details of the information required are provided in Section 2 of the report template.
∎ Collect and collate detailed scientific and socioeconomic information on current and future demand of the sector. This will include: i) current practices, in terms of wild broodstock collection and specific pathogen-free PL production (Section 3 of the report template); ii) future demand of the sector, including advantages/disadvantages of shifting to L. vannamei in Bangladesh (Section 4 of the report template).
∎ Visit hatcheries, brood suppliers/traders, shrimp farmers, shrimp hatchery association of Bangladesh (SHAB), DoF, and BFRI to collect and validate all relevant information gathered for this study.
∎ Coordinate and share the collected national information about the shrimp sector with the international consultant, and incorporate feedback from the UoE and WF team, to produce final report.
∎ Organize and convene regular virtual meetings with WF, UoE team and the international consultant to share work updates and next steps, and to seek guidance on appropriate work direction.
∎ Deliverables:
∎ By 25 January 2021, submit the draft of Section 2 of the report template, providing information on background and history of P. monodon broodstock in Bangladesh.
∎ By 8 February 2021, submit the draft of Section 3 of the report template on current practices in Bangladesh.
∎ By 22 February 2021, submit the draft of Section 4 of the report template, on the current and future demand of the broodstock sector in Bangladesh.
∎ By 10 March 2021, submit final versions of Sections 2, 3 and 4 of the report template, taking into account all feedback from the UoE and WF team.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Expertise in the shrimp industry.
∎ Expertise in the shrimp hatchery sector.
∎ Extensive experience of working with shrimp hatcheries, shrimp broodstock and the broodstock supply chain.
∎ Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
∎ Ability to both work as part of a team and managing fieldwork, sometimes alone.
∎ Strong commitment and highly motivated to work on research with implications for WorldFish and its development outcomes and impact.
∎ Strong ethical commitment to the organizational values of WorldFish.
∎ Familiar with the operation of essential computer software/packages for data capture, management, storage and analyses.
∎ Ability and willingness to travel and able to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
∎ Work experience (Specific work/consultancy):
∎ Experience of working within shrimp hatcheries.
∎ Experience of working with shrimp broodstock suppliers.
∎ Experience working with recognized international organizations in the shrimp sector.
