Experience:
Minimum Qualification: BBA & MBA in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Trade, Finance, or a related field from Public and any reputed Private University.
Certifications (Preferred): Professional certifications like PGD Supply Chain Management or relevant customs/logistics certification will be added value.
Profound knowledge of Customs Act-2023, Import/Export Policy, Fisheries & Animal Food Regulation.
Strong command over L/C clauses, Incoterms (2020), and foreign exchange regulations.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, factory-specific ERP) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Familiarity with the ASYCUDA WORLD System.
Sound knowledge of proper HS Code classification of imported items.
Excellent vendor and service provider negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and cost-effective logistics.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with external bodies (Banks, Customs Officials, C&F Agents, NBR and other stakeholders).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct root cause analysis and resolve import/logistics bottlenecks swiftly.
Excellent communication (oral and written) in both English and Bengali.
The Assistant Manager/Manager – Commercial will be responsible for overseeing the entire import process, ensuring compliance with Bangladesh customs regulations and government policies. This role involves managing Letters of Credit (LC), international supplier coordination, logistics, and customs clearance activities. The position requires close collaboration with banks, customs agents, freight forwarders, and internal departments such as Procurement, Production, and Finance. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of import laws, documentation processes, and cost control practices to ensure timely and cost-effective material flow into the company.
Oversee the lifecycle of all commercial contracts, Letters of Credit, and payment terms, ensuring alignment with Govt. policies.
Ensure all import activities comply with national customs laws, trade regulations, Fisheries and Animal Act of Bangladesh.
Liaise with Bank officials for all import LC/TT, documentation endorsement, and foreign exchange matters.
Monitor and manage operational costs, focusing on minimizing demurrage, delay charges, C&F (Clearing & Forwarding) & Transportation expenses.
Negotiate freight rates and payment terms (e.g., Incoterms like FOB, EX-WORKS) with suppliers and service providers to achieve cost savings.
Manage the end-to-end import documentation process (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Details Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Radiation, Health, Quarantine Certificates), coordinating with customs agents for swift and compliant clearance at ports.
Ensure all import operations adhere to Bangladesh's Customs Act 2023, Import Policy, Foreign Exchange Policy, Fisheries Act, Animal Food Regulation and relevant Customs NBR SROs (Statutory Regulatory Orders).
Manage freight forwarders, shipping lines, and inland transport partners to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of materials from the port to the manufacturing unit.
Manage relationships with key company internal stakeholders (Procurement, Production, Finance) and external partners (Suppliers, customs agents, Logistics Providers).
Coordinate the end-to-end import process from suppliers to ensure the timely and efficient flow of goods via Sea, Road, Rail and Air.
Communicate with overseas suppliers to track shipment schedules and resolve any pre-shipment issues.
Liaise and coordinate with Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders, and C&F Agents to expedite customs clearance and timely port operations.
Monitor cargo status at ports (e.g., Chittagong Sea Port, Dhaka Airport) to minimize delays.
Collaborate with the Procurement and Inventory/Warehouse teams to align delivery schedules with production demand and maintain optimal stock levels (avoiding overstocking or shortages).
Prepare and submit reports and other tasks to the management as required and assigned.
