∎ Position Overview:
∎ The Adviser- Pre-Primary Education is a member of the IDTS unit, based within the Country Office Literacy Program technical team. This unit is responsible for managing Room to Read`s program design and training curriculum related to Pre-primary, grade 1 and grade-2 literacy instruction, and primary grade library management and reading activities. In collaboration with the Global Literacy Team, Global and Regional Programs Team, and the Country Teams, the Adviser-Pre-primary is responsible for providing technical assistance, support, and supervision on all aspects of the Training program design, including professional development to school and Room to Read staff about Pre-Primary reading and writing instruction and library management and activities. This position will be based in the Country Office and will report directly to the Literacy Director. In consultation with the CO-based technical team, The Adviser- Pre-Primary, will directly manage the Pre-Primary interventions at the Country Office level, as well as dotted-line manage the Literacy Program Field Officers, who provide technical oversight and training at the field level. This position will involve frequent travel to field offices, as well as regular interaction with education officials, partners, school administrators, teachers, and students.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide technical leadership and assistance on the overall pre-primary approach with a focus on teaching and learning material development, training, and capacity building for a variety of stakeholders responsible for children's learning; as well as approaches for testing and scaling up learning methodologies to improve learning outcomes
∎ Responsible to ensure timely deliverable of pre-primary education activities according to the approved project document and work plan;
∎ Undertake monthly/quarterly planning to ensure the project deliverables related to pre-primary and implementation accordingly;
∎ Review and analyze existing government pre-primary teaching-learning package to design and development of improved child-centered and gender-responsive teaching-learning methodologies and materials with the respective RtR CO technical team and Govt department
∎ Review and analyze existing government pre-primary teacher education curriculum and training packages to align with the child-centered and gender-responsive teaching-learning methodologies, practices, and design training/workshop for headteachers, pre-primary teachers, staff, and relevant govt officials;
∎ Facilitate capacity-building sessions for targeted personnel from PTI, URC, other govt officials, head-teachers, and program staff on Pre-primary education.
∎ Review the existing supplementary materials package for pre-primary grades and finalize the package in consultation with the respective RtR CO technical team and Govt officials;
∎ Review and finalize assessment framework of pre-primary education and implementation plan in consultation with the other team members and CO-based technical team;
∎ Work closely with relevant government stakeholders to ensure sustainable programming aligned with the Govt's Pre-primary operational and technical framework
∎ Help analyze data to inform the periodic review and course correction to ensure that program activities are based on evidence and generating innovative approaches towards improved learning outcomes at the pre-primary level.
∎ Support in documenting lessons learned and best practices of the program
∎ Ensure that issues of gender and disability are factored into the program design
∎ Ensure timely submission of reports to Literacy Director;
∎ Report timely the implementation of the program targets related to pre-primary education;
∎ Review program reports and responds as necessary;
∎ Engage with government and do outreach in support of program activities, especially in relation to implementation, scale-up, and sustainability of the pre-primary intervention.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of 8 years related work experience with at least 3 years in a similar position
∎ Good knowledge and understanding of education issues, including teaching methodologies and community involvement in schools
∎ Should have experience in working closely with relevant government stakeholders to ensure sustainable programming aligned with the Govt's Pre-primary operational and technical framework
∎ Support in developing government pre-primary teaching-learning package will be added as an advantage
∎ Strong planning, coaching, and program development skills
∎ Skills & Competencies Required:
∎ Expertise in data analysis and preparing analytical reports is a must
∎ Understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and process documentation
∎ Strong motivation in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high-quality work and low overhead
∎ Prior track record of achieving results in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization
∎ Skills of typing in Bangla
∎ Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
