Responsibilities & Context:
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Fabrication and Repair: Assemble, cut, and fuse metal parts and structures according to blueprints, structural drawings, or specifications.
Technical Operations: Operate, set up, and maintain welding machinery, plasma cutters, and grinders.
Quality Control: Inspect completed welds to detect defects, such as cracks or weak joints, and ensure conformance with standards.
Material Preparation: Prepare materials by measuring, marking, cutting, and grinding surfaces to ensure a proper fit.
Positioning and Welding: Weld components in various positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead, to complete projects, as described on the Betterteam website.
Safety Compliance: Wear protective gear (masks, gloves, boots) and maintain a clean, safe work environment to prevent hazards, according to the Region 10 Technical High School and as described by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (.gov).
Documentation: Maintain records of work, including heat numbers and welding parameters
