Responsibilities & Context:
Specimen Analysis: Examining tissue samples, cells, and bodily fluids using microscopes and other laboratory technology to identify abnormalities.
Diagnostic Reporting: Writing detailed pathology reports that provide critical diagnoses, which inform treatment decisions by other physicians.
Consultation: Collaborating with medical teams, providing expert interpretation of laboratory data to clinicians.
Laboratory Leadership: Supervising laboratory staff, ensuring quality control, and adhering to safety protocols.
Autopsies: Performing forensic or clinical autopsies to determine causes of death, if specialized.
Research & Education: Conducting research to develop new tests, and educating or mentoring medical staff.
