Ø Participate in policy making with the Editorial Board.
Ø Play a role in the recruitment, training and evaluation of new journalists of staffs.
Ø Contribute to content planning for digital platforms.
Ø Act as the Editor during emergencies or in their absence.
Ø Contribute to revenue growth by planning and suggesting necessary measures.
Ø Formulate various strategies to enhance advertising and ensure their implementation through concern persons.
Ø Provide guidance and support to increase the newspaper’s circulation.
Responsibilities & Context:
1. Supervision of Editorial Activities:
Ø Manage and coordinate daily editorial operations.
Ø Ensure timely and quality publication of news reports, editorials, columns and other content.
2. Team Management & Coordination:
Ø Supervise and guide the work of Reporters, Sub-Editors, Page Designers, Photographers and others staff.
Ø Maintain an effective team environment by ensuring coordination among all departments.
3. Publication, Planning and Implementation:
Ø Plan news/content and set schedules for Edition.
Ø Review proofs, finalize news/content and approve before printing.
4. Quality Control:
Ø Ensure correct spelling, language usage, referencing and adherence to journalistic ethics and standards.
Ø Ensure the publication of reader friendly and credible news/content.
5. Topic Selection and News Evaluation:
Ø Decide the importance of news stories and provide appropriate editorial direction.
6. Legal & Ethical Oversight:
Ø Ensure content does not violate any stories and provide appropriate editorial direction.
7. Budget and Resource Management:
Ø Manage editorial activities within the allocated budget.
Ø Assess and recommend necessary staffing and technical resources.
8. Reader Feedback Analysis and Action:
Ø Analyse reader opinions, letter or online responses and take appropriate oriented actions.
