Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and ICT is required from a recognized university.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ To Set up laboratory exercises, provide instruction and perform tutorials for specified subject under the direction of the Subject Teacher.
∎ To Assess student laboratory progress and laboratory examinations in consultation with the Subject Teacher.
∎ To Assist students on an individual and/or group basis with laboratory related assignments/problems, Course Maintenance and Updates.
∎ With minimal supervision and in consultation with the Subject Teacher, to initiate the design and updates of new procedures for laboratory teaching that support the students learning; this will involve research and development of new techniques, as well as estimated costs for development and delivery.
∎ To Co-ordinate the annual preparation of laboratory support materials; in consultation with the Subject Teacher, make suggestions for course content updates, provide assistance with drawings, wording and be responsible for the delivery of the finalized manual.
∎ To Monitor and update laboratory equipment; in consultation with the relevant Technician, ensure that all laboratory equipment is in proper working order.
∎ Responsible to suggest new equipment purchases, source out vendors and present pricing options to the Accounts and Administrative Officer for purchase.
∎ Experienced in trouble shooting and working with scientific equipment is an asset. Requires a sound understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of lab offerings.
∎ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is essential.
∎ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
∎ Within the School, the incumbent will communicate with all Subject Teacher assigned to specific subject duties. The Laboratory Demonstrator will also have significant contact with outside vendors.
∎ To ensure that all assigned tasks are completed on time and with a high level of accuracy.
