Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Develop and implement the hospital's financial strategy and ensure alignment with its overall mission and objectives.
∎ Monitor and manage the hospital's financial performance by setting long-term financial goals and creating forecasts.Ensure the hospital remains financially viable while delivering high-quality care.
∎ Analyze market trends, economic conditions, and healthcare regulations to make informed financial decisions.
∎ Lead the annual budget preparation process, ensuring it reflects the hospital's priorities and operational needs.
∎ Monitor ongoing budget performance, making adjustments and forecasts as necessary to ensure financial targets are met.
∎ Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for senior management and stakeholders.
∎ Ensure compliance with internal and external financial regulations and standards.
∎ Oversee and manage billing, coding, and reimbursement processes to ensure timely payments for services rendered.Monitor cash flow, billing performance, and collections, while implementing strategies to reduce payment delays or bad debt.
∎ Develop initiatives to enhance hospital revenue generation, such as identifying new funding sources or optimizing reimbursement rates.
∎ Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements, ensuring that resources are used effectively.Analyze operational costs and assess ways to optimize expenditures across departments, including staffing, supplies, and services.
∎ Ensure that financial controls are in place to prevent wastage and inefficiencies.Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations, tax laws, and hospital industry standards, such as HIPAA or other relevant legislation.
∎ Work with auditors to facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring transparency and accountability.
∎ Oversee financial risk management activities and ensure the hospital is protected from financial fraud, mismanagement, or other risks.
∎ Communicate financial performance and strategy to key stakeholders, including hospital executives, board members, government agencies, and external auditors.
∎ Collaborate with senior leadership to make informed decisions on major investments, capital expenditures, or new service lines.Represent the hospital in negotiations with financial institutions, insurance companies, and other external partners.
∎ Lead, manage, and develop the finance team, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.Foster a culture of financial accountability and continuous improvement within the hospital's finance department.
∎ Provide leadership in improving financial operations through technology, process improvements, and best practices.Oversee the financial management of capital projects, including new construction or major equipment purchases.
∎ Evaluate and recommend investments to expand or improve hospital services, ensuring a balanced approach to financial risk and opportunity.
∎ Provide financial insights and data-driven analysis to assist hospital leadership in strategic decision-making.Conduct profitability analysis on new programs, services, and partnerships.
∎ Evaluate the financial viability of new business ventures and hospital expansions.
∎ Oversee the identification, application, and management of government and private grants.
∎ Ensure proper tracking and reporting of funds in compliance with grant conditions and regulations.
