Responsibilities & Context:
∎ The ideal candidate should have deep industry knowledge in foam materials, layering techniques, upholstery integration and furniture comfort engineering.
∎ Select and recommend appropriate foams (PU, HR, memory foam, rebonded foam) for different furniture components based on density, compression and recovery characteristics.
∎ Design and evaluate seat cushions, backrests, and mattress units integrated into furniture products.
∎ Collaborate with product designers and upholsterers to ensure optimal comfort and aesthetics.
∎ Assist in the development of integrated mattress systems for furniture (e.g., storage beds, pull-out beds, or sofas with in-built sleeping systems).
∎ Standardize foam usage and ensure consistent quality across products and batches.
∎ Work with procurement and suppliers to source reliable and cost-effective foam materials.
∎ Supervise testing for firmness, sagging, comfort retention, and longevity of foam/mattress-based parts.
∎ Train production and upholstery teams in foam cutting, layering, gluing, and ergonomic assembly methods.
∎ In-depth understanding of foam types, densities, and their furniture applications.
∎ Knowledge of spring systems (Bonnell, pocket coil, zig-zag springs) used in sofas and bed furniture.
∎ Skilled in foam cutting techniques (manual and CNC), lamination and upholstery fitment.
∎ Strong understanding of ergonomics and user comfort in residential and commercial furniture.
∎ Ability to analyze test results and improve material specifications and assembly processes.
∎ Hands-on problem-solving with a keen eye for quality and performance.Educational Qualification:BSc in Industrial Engineering/ Polymer Science/ Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical or Textile Engineering (with foam/comfort design focus).Technical diplomas in Upholstery Design, Foam Technology or Mattress Production are an added advantage.Experience Required:Minimum 8–10 years of experience in foam and mattress development.Preference will be given to those currently working in the Foam and Mattress industry.

∎ Job Summary:
∎ We are looking for a highly skilled Foam & Mattress Expert to oversee the selection, development and application of foam and mattress components used in upholstered furniture such as sofas, recliners, bed sets and lounge chairs. The role focuses on optimizing comfort, durability, cost-efficiency and ergonomic performance through the correct use of foams, cushions, spring systems and mattress combinations.
