Job Context:
∎ Samaj Kallayan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous and poverty-free society that ensures everyone`s basic needs and rights. SKUS has since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx worked in Cox`s Bazar district with children and adolescents. SKUS works to provide access to learning opportunities in a safe and protective environment, offer quality teaching/learning and increase refugee/host community participation and engagement in children`s education. Based on children`s and adolescents` rights, SKUS has established quality learning and protection centres with support from different international donors, including UN agencies. SKUS has an agreement with UNICEF for the project of Education for Rohingya Children at Rohingya Camp in Ukhia Upazila under Cox`s Bazar District. SKUS is looking for a suitable candidate for the immediate appointment of Engineer- Rohingya Response for the project as mentioned above, supported by UNICEF.
∎ Purpose of the job
∎ Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Engineer is responsible to construct, maintain and renovate all types of Learning Centres in camp and host community in Cox Bazar district. .

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Prepare design and construction specifications for Learning Center Construction and Renovation in Rohingya Camp and host community.
∎ Prepare detailed designs, calculations, scope of works, specifications, bills of quantities and drawings for contract work packages and vendors.
∎ Guide the contractors to ensure all construction work are done according to design, plan, budget and specification besides assist the contractors in resolving technical issues.
∎ Report any inconsistency or problem on the site to the field office.
∎ Assist in the selection of vendors.
∎ Supervise activities of vendor/worker/ foremen/ labor as per BOQ.
∎ Follow up civil works and safety issues.
∎ Report to UNICEF and SKUS management the progress of construction work.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 45 years
∎ Minimum 3 years working experience in construction.
∎ At least have 1-year working experience in emergency response program.
∎ The applicants should have experience in the areas of construction and contract management.
∎ Knowledge
∎ Good knowledge of quality control/field engineering at construction site.
∎ Knowledge of materials (civil constructions & interior).
∎ Good understanding of detailed architectural/structural drawings, BOQ bar chart etc.
∎ Ability to manage the work force and timely completion of work.
∎ Skills
∎ Good oral and written communication skills in both Bangla and English.
∎ Good knowledge of the local language (Chattagram).
∎ Excellent knowledge of computer software, particularly MS Excel, MS Word (both Bangla & English).
∎ Excellent knowledge of AutoCard.
∎ Abilities
∎ Open to taking on additional tasks as required to meet project goals and objectives.
∎ Ability to adapt to changing situations.
∎ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
∎ Other characteristics such as personal characteristics
∎ Strict moral code and non-compromising attitude towards corruption and embezzlement.
∎ Enthusiastic and empathetic.
∎ Willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions and capacity building activities.

∎ Working Conditions
∎ The Engineer is based at SKUS's project office located at Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar.
∎ She/he will spend approximately 80% of their time in the field.
∎ She/he may have contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals.

Salary: Tk. 57200 (Monthly)
