Requirements:
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Sketching & Concept Creation: Create initial design concepts, sketches, and mood boards to reflect the desired style, theme, and functionality for the collection.
∎ Tech Pack Creation: Develop detailed technical specifications and design briefs, including measurements, fabric details, color schemes, and finishing instructions for production teams.
∎ Fabric & Material Selection: Choose fabrics, materials, and trims in collaboration with suppliers, ensuring they meet quality standards and design aesthetics.
∎ Pattern Creation: Work closely with pattern makers to create accurate patterns based on the design, ensuring proper fit and construction.
∎ Sample Review & Adjustments: Review and evaluate prototype samples and make necessary adjustments or corrections to the design to ensure it aligns with the original concept.
∎ Fit Testing: Conduct fittings on models or mannequins to check for fit, comfort, and design accuracy, making adjustments as needed.
∎ Liaise with Manufacturers: Work closely with production teams, including cutters, sewers, and other factory staff, to ensure designs are produced accurately and efficiently.
∎ Quality Control: Oversee the production process to ensure the final garment meets quality standards, specifications, and design details.
∎ Problem Solving: Address production issues or challenges such as fabric limitations, sewing difficulties, or fit problems.
∎ Trend Forecasting: Stay updated on global fashion trends, materials, and garment production techniques to incorporate the latest styles and innovations into designs.
∎ Competitor Analysis: Analyze competitors' products to identify gaps in the market and determine ways to differentiate the brand’s designs.
∎ Cost Estimation: Work with the production team to estimate the cost of manufacturing the designs, ensuring the final product meets both design and budget requirements.
∎ Material Sourcing: Negotiate with fabric suppliers and manufacturers to obtain the best quality materials at competitive prices.
∎ Client Presentations: Present new designs and collections to clients, buyers, or internal stakeholders for feedback and approval.
∎ Brand Alignment: Ensure all designs are in line with the company’s brand identity, target market, and aesthetic vision.
∎ Design Refinement: Continuously review and refine designs based on feedback from customers, production teams, and market demand.
∎ Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable practices and materials into designs where possible, keeping in mind environmental and ethical considerations.
∎ Documentation: Maintain detailed records of designs, patterns, and materials used in the production process.
∎ Product Lifecycle Management: Track the lifecycle of each design from conceptualization to production, ensuring smooth transition and timely deliveries.
